Energy Saving With LED Lamp Technology.
Lamp technology has come a long way in recent years & now brings good energy savings when compared to the old standard light bulb.
Gone are the days of the old energy saving bulbs that you had to turn on & wait for them to get brighter. With LED lamps you now get instant light at full brightness the minute you turn them on.
Rated life span of the lamps has increased dramatically with LED lamps.
Halogen lamp 1,000-2,000 hours .
Old energy saving lamp (CFL) 8,000-15,000 hours.
LED lamp 25,000-30,000 hours.
LED lamps do cost more initially, but the extended life span & energy savings soon pay back the difference & start saving money.
LED lamps are usually available in a range of white shades.
Warm white Slightly yellowish white light.
Cool white Strong white light.
Daylight white Slightly bluish white light.
Interestingly, most females like the warm white light & males like the cool white light. Older people & visually impaired people tend to like the daylight white light.
To give some comparisons on savings when using LED lamps.

60W 10W Over £7
100W 18W Over £12
Halogen spot light LED Equivalent Savings per year

50W 5W Over £6
Based on 2.7 hours use per day & electricity at 15p/kwh a 50W halogen mains spot lamp would cost £7.54 a year to run. The equivalent 5W LED mains spot lamp would cost £0.75 a year to run.
