Yorkshire Dales Uncovered
Dogs in the Dales
The river doesn’t rush here.
It has all the time in the world.
It slips over old stones, beneath ancient trees, carrying nothing more urgent than light and sky.
A little black dog pauses.
Ears pricked.
Watching the water as though it holds a secret only dogs can hear.
Perhaps it does.
The Yorkshire Dales have always been like that.
They don’t ask to be admired.
They simply go on being beautiful.
Dry stone walls stitched across the hills. Rivers carving their patient paths. Meadows breathing in summer. Villages where muddy paws are greeted with a smile before clean shoes ever are.
A dog belongs here.
Not because the Dales were made for dogs…
But because dogs understand them.
They know that happiness isn’t somewhere you’re trying to get to.
It’s cold water around your paws.
The shade beneath an old tree.
The scent of the wind changing.
Someone you love walking beside you.
Maybe that’s why they always seem to find the way home.
They never forgot where it was.
It was never a place.
It was always a moment like this.
