“But nothing actually happened…!”👷‍♂️

In scaffolding and construction, the difference between a near miss and a serious accident can sometimes be a matter of seconds.

A dropped fitting, an unsecured board or an issue with edge protection may cause no injury, but each provides an opportunity to prevent a future accident.

With falls from height remaining the leading cause of fatal workplace accidents, reporting hazards and near misses is essential.

We encourage our workforce to report near misses so we can investigate, share lessons learned and take corrective action. Importantly, a high level of near-miss reporting doesn’t necessarily indicate poor safety performance.

A strong safety culture isn’t about having nothing to report. It’s about reporting, learning and improving before someone gets hurt.

Today, we’re celebrating 15 years of service for Scott at Crossway Scaffolding.

Scott has been a valued member of the Crossway team since 2011, and we’d like to thank him for his hard work, commitment and contribution to the business over the years.

2026 has been a year of milestones for Crossway, with several of our long-serving team members celebrating significant anniversaries, something we’re incredibly proud of and a great reflection of the experience and loyalty within our team.

From live school environments to new-build education facilities, Crossway has extensive experience delivering safe and practical access solutions across the Education sector.

Recent projects include two 24m and 23m temporary roof structures at Ridgewood School as part of the DfE School Rebuilding Programme, designed to protect ongoing refurbishment works while minimising disruption within a live school environment 🏫.

This year we have added to our education portfolio with a pedestrian footbridge at Wales High School, featuring a non-slip GRP walkway and stair treads, secure hoarding and warm-to-touch handrails; external and internal access scaffolds at Bradford College; and scaffolding for the new-build Woodlands Academy SEND school in Scarborough, to name a few 🛠️.

Whatever the requirements, our focus remains the same: Safety. Speed. Efficiency.

Access scaffold and shrink-wrap solution for Overbury at the historic Martin Luther King Jr Building, located at the entrance to Liverpool’s iconic Royal Albert Dock.

This Grade I listed 19th-century landmark holds huge historical significance, with its refurbishment set to create the new entrance for the International Slavery Museum, honouring Liverpool’s connections to the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade and the ongoing importance of equality and human rights.

Our works have included the installation of a fully shrink-wrapped scaffold enclosure to allow specialist sandblasting of the façade, alongside the refurbishment of the building’s original cast-iron pillars. The project will also incorporate a new portico roof to enhance the entrance of this remarkable building.

Working on a structure with such heritage value requires careful planning, precision, and respect for the existing fabric of the building. We’re proud to play our part in preserving and preparing this landmark for its next chapter.
