Well that’s it, I’ve finally stopped for Christmas!

Wishing all my customers old and new a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I’ve also realised it’s been well over a year since I’ve posted any jobs on here or advertised at all. That means I’ve gone over a year on recommendations alone, so thank you to everyone who’s been passing my name/number onto others.

Next year I promise to show off some of the work I’ve been doing so keep your eyes peeled!

Just to make everyone aware, I’ve broken down on the A19. Awaiting a recovery at the minute so there might be a bit of a delay to today/ the weeks work. Hopefully get back to normal ASAP but please bear with me. Anyone who has got work booked in for this week I’ll be messaging you direct once home and updating you with the situation.
I hate to do this but please note some dates may have to be changed depending on what the mechanic says.

As you’re probably all aware I’ve been quiet on social media for a few months due to the amount work I’ve been carrying out both at work and home and also moving into a new workshop!

I’ve thought for quite a while about posting this but I think it’s time I did.

There’s a reason why electricians do a 4 year apprenticeship.

There’s a reason why we go back to college every few years to re-do the BS7671 regs

You wouldn’t let handyman Bob from down the road fit a boiler for you so why let handyman Bob do your electrics.

We go to college and constantly keep up with changes in regs for safety reasons!

So the cause of this post…

I got a phone call early one morning to say the client could smell burning and her electrics had tripped.

Arriving at the property there was a slight burning smell. I began to test and inspect the tripped circuit to find out what the problem was and discovered an absolute shocker. A spur off a ring main not fused down supplying 4 double sockets for all under unit appliances for one side of the kitchen. On the other side of the kitchen another 2 Spurs (from the same point) behind the dishwasher. This had caused the connection point to melt. The connection point not being enclosed had then arc’d to the metal panel of the dishwasher and burnt a hole in it! Huge red flag as to why the breaker didn’t trip straight away. A quick ze test showed a huge reading meaning the breaker wasn’t getting enough fault current to trip instantly. Thus allowing the arc to continue to burn through the back of the dishwasher.

This could have been so much worse!

Please be safe, use a qualified electrician for all your electrical work!

Haven’t had time to post any updates of recent jobs due to being so busy lately but he’s a little one done a while back. Light fittings installed and controlled by remote timer with on/off override function.
