SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

Can you tell that this customers a door lives near the sea!!
Handle and cylinder in a bad way and they had lost the keys to the cylinder.

So we attended, opened and replaced the handle and cylinder. We added a thumbturn cylinder which means it doesn’t need a key from the inside to lock and open.

Most insurance companies now ask for British standard 5 lever locks to external doors.
Here’s a quick upgrade from an old 5 lever lock to a modern insurance rated British standard 5 lever lock on an older style wooden front door.

Did you know some insurance companies us the same language and terminology for PVC & composite, however you can’t fit a British standard 5 lever locks to that style door.
We can however supply 3* British standard cylinders for PVC and composite doors.

The cylinder lock, previously called “patent lock”, was developed by Linus Yale senior (1797–1857), but his son Linus Yale Junior improved the product, and his patent number 48475 dated June 27, 1865, revolutionized the door lock market. Cylinder locks, with various modifications, are still one of our most common lock types for doors, gates and padlocks. In Sweden, cylinder locks have been used since the early 1880s.
The euro profile was predominantly used in European countries (hence the name Euro cylinder) whereas the UK used the oval profile cylinders.
Nowadays the euro profile is the most commonly used cylinder on the market.
They come in LOTS of sizes (lengths) these are measured from the fixing hole on the centre to both ends, some are equal (ie 35/35mm) most of offset (ie 40/50). Steron hold a large selection of sizes on the shelf.
They can also come with a wide variety of different security features, such as sacrificial snap safe, to British standard 3* with anti bump, anti pick etc.
