Day 5 – Garage Conversion Progress 🔨

Another productive day!…. with the insulation works now complete and the space really starting to take shape 👌

All walls have now been overclad with 50mm thick insulation boards to meet UK Building Regulations Part L requirements, achieving the required room U-value of 0.18 for improved thermal efficiency and comfort. All boards have been securely fixed using 100mm drywall screws and 36mm stainless steel washers for a solid and long-lasting installation.

Also made a started plasterboarding the ceiling, installed a drop-down loft hatch for future boiler access, boarded section of the loft space to allow safe maintenance access when required.

A lot of the important work at this stage gets hidden behind the finishes, but it’s these details that make the difference in comfort, efficiency, and quality 🔥

Day 4 – Insulation & floor system completed 🔨

A big step forward on this garage conversion with the insulated floor system now fully laid and boarded using 18mm chipboard flooring, with all joints glued to help reduce movement and minimise noise.

Wall insulation has also been carefully cut tight between every stud, with all joints fully silver taped to help reduce drafts and eliminate cold spots.

Creating a warmer, more energy-efficient space ready for the next stages of the build.

It’s the attention to detail behind the scenes that makes the biggest difference in the finished result.
