F A L K L A N D S – D A Y

🏅 Today, on Falklands Day (14 August), we celebrate the history and heritage of the Falkland Islands while also remembering the service and sacrifice of those who served during the 1982 conflict. 🇫🇰

The South Atlantic Medal is one of the most collected modern British campaign medals, and for serious collectors, every detail matters — especially the ribbon.

Awarded to personnel who met the qualifying service criteria during the Falklands conflict, with or without the rosette denoting qualifying operational service, it remains a powerful symbol of duty and remembrance.

At Wyedean, we weave South Atlantic Medal ribbon to the correct specification, helping to preserve the accuracy, integrity and significance of every medal.

For collectors, restorers, historians and enthusiasts alike, the right ribbon helps preserve the integrity of every medal.

Happy Yorkshire Day! 💙💛

For over 60 years, we've proudly called Haworth home.

From Bridgehouse Mill, we've been privileged to employ local people, support our community and create some of Britain's finest ceremonial military craftsmanship.

We manufacture ceremonial uniform accoutrement, dressing His Majesty's Forces and their horses, while also producing premium braids, medal ribbons and accessories, all meticulously developed and crafted by our skilled team.

Yorkshire craftsmanship and traditional skills have been at the heart of Wyedean for decades, with our products continuing to be recognised across the UK and around the world.

Today, our Yorkshire flag is flying proudly above the mill. If you're passing by this weekend, be sure to look up and spot it.

Happy Yorkshire Day from everyone at Wyedean Weaving.

🏅 Crafting History 🏅

We're incredibly proud to have played a small part in such a historic occasion.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Bonfield on becoming the first Yorkshire woman to be installed as Master of The Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers Alias Wire Workers – a remarkable achievement and a wonderful celebration of heritage, skilled trades and apprenticeships.

For this special event, we were honoured to create the commemorative medals presented to guests. Working from Elizabeth's original painting of the Livery emblem, we created a design to be engraved and laser cut into a wooden medal before carefully finishing it by hand. We also designed and manufactured the bespoke woven ribbons here at Wyedean, with every medal machine sewn and hand finished by our team.

The project was a fantastic opportunity to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, creating a keepsake to mark such an important milestone.

🎥Watch the video to see the journey from artwork to finished medal – from Elizabeth's original painting, our laser cutting process, through to the completed commemorative pieces.

We're delighted to have been mentioned in both the Craven Herald & Pioneer and Lesley O'Brien OBE's reflections on the evening.

Congratulations once again, Elizabeth. It was a privilege to help celebrate such a significant achievement and to play a small part in a memorable evening that recognised Yorkshire's rich heritage and craftsmanship.

Today, we celebrate the legacy of our founder, David Wright — whose birthday we proudly honour each year on this very special day.

From WWII Fleet Air Arm fighter pilot to visionary textile designer, David’s passion, creativity and determination laid the foundations for Wyedean back in 1964. More than 60 years later, his values continue to live on through our people, our craftsmanship and the community around us.

Of course, Founders Day wouldn’t be complete without one of our favourite traditions… the ice cream van is returning to the mill! 🍦✨

This year is extra special as we welcomed 36 pupils from our local Haworth Primary School and Nursery, who joined us for a special school project and tour of the mill — learning about our history, heritage and the skills behind what we do. They also stayed to share an ice cream with the Wyedean team, helping us celebrate a tradition that brings generations together. 💙

David always believed in people, creativity and community — and we think he would have loved seeing the next generation experiencing Wyedean today.

Here’s to David Wright, to the Wyedean family, and to continuing a legacy built on craftsmanship, connection and tradition. 🍦

We are so pleased to hear of the positive reaction of the new medals and badges which Wyedean made for Brontë Academy Trust. We look forward to the event at Bradford Live in July and seeing the reaction from the children when they receive their special awards. A great incentive for the next generation to work towards a reward they can treasure.

✨ 10 YEARS OF BRONTË ACADEMY TRUST! ✨

The celebrations for our milestone 10th anniversary are officially underway, and we couldn't be prouder of our amazing pupils! 🏅

The very first wave of Wyedean custom-crafted Brontë Academy Award medals and badges have been presented to children across our four schools: Oakworth Primary School and Nursery, Haworth Primary School and Nursery, Lees Primary School and Nursery , and Oldfield Primary School and Nursery

These awards celebrate pupils who consistently live out our Trust values in meaningful ways—from raising vital funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands, to incredible student-led initiatives like running our school uniform shop.

🚀 Next stop: Bradford Live! 🚀

This initial round of recognition sets the stage for a historic, full-scale celebration this summer. For the first time ever, our Trust family will come together at the iconic, Bradford Live venue for our official awards ceremony! Parents will watch on as our Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards are presented to students from years 1, 4, and 6.

We can’t wait to see you all there for an unforgettable summer evening! 🌟

T R O O P I N G - T H E - C O L O U R 🇬🇧

The countdown is on! Tomorrow marks Trooping the Colour 2026 — a day filled with history, tradition and exceptional craftsmanship, as the nation comes together to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Official Birthday. 👑

We’re incredibly proud that Wyedean’s work will once again form part of this iconic event. In recent weeks, our talented team has carefully restored a selection of the magnificent hand-embroidered Drum and Trumpet Banners that will appear on parade. 🥁✨

After many years of ceremonial use, some of these historic banners required specialist attention, including intricate embroidery restoration and repairs to delicate details such as tassels. These Drum and Trumpet Banners are over 20 years old.

Carefully restored by our skilled embroiderers, each Banner has been brought back to its former glory — combining traditional skills, specialist techniques and hours of meticulous craftsmanship to help preserve these important pieces of military heritage.

Our recent Trooping the Colour journey:
🔹 2023: The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons)
🔹 2024: Number 9 Company Irish Guards
🔹 2025: No. 7 Company, 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards
🔹 2026: Drum and Trumpet Banners proudly restored ready for parade

👉 Did you know…? The tradition of Trooping the Colour dates back over 260 years. Originally, Colours were carried through the ranks so soldiers could recognise their regiment on the battlefield — a tradition that has evolved into the spectacular ceremony we know today.

📺 Whether you’re heading to London or watching from home, keep an eye out for the details, craftsmanship and traditions that make this event so special. 🇬🇧
