Just to let those who knew him know, we lost our dear team member Sav (David Wilson) yesterday, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Sav grew up on a remote farm in South Wales. Rather than follow the family tradition, he moved to London in the late 80s/early 90s and graduated from Wimbledon School of Art with a degree in sculpture, becoming part of the London art scene at that time.
He developed a strong affinity with theming, rockwork, and the practical art of turning habitat and scene concepts into reality. This led him to work extensively around the world, including long periods in the Middle East, where he was known as a true powerhouse — highly skilled, adaptable, and dependable.
Sav combined artistic talent with hard-edged pragmatism. He excelled at managing people, complex sites, tight timelines, and bringing clarity to difficult situations.
I first met Sav on a project at London Zoo, where a strong friendship began. He joined Koda Creative in 2018 as a freelance sculptor, and it quickly became clear that his determination, problem-solving mindset, and calm authority under pressure made him the ideal Project Manager and Field Art Director — a role he held until illness prevented him from continuing.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra, and his two amazing daughters, Erin and Efa.
Sav will be deeply missed by all of us at Koda Creative — and by myself, Graham, and Bruce in particular — as well as by the many people he worked with over the years, forming strong and enduring friendships wherever his work took him.
Rest in peace brother 🖤
