This job was all about precision. ✂️🌿

We carried out a full trim-up of this beautiful beech hedge, carefully shaping and refining every section to achieve a crisp, clean finish. A hedge of this size and detail doesn’t happen quickly - it took hours of careful work to get it looking just right.

The difference is in the details, and we’re delighted with the final result. 👌

📍Heathwood Park

A great little addition to one of our maintenance sites at Heathwood Park 🦇

We’ve installed a bat box kindly donated by a local resident, working alongside Lindfield & Walstead Nature Watch to find the perfect spot.

This ash tree was recently monolithed due to ash dieback, as it was overhanging a highway and footpath. Rather than remove it completely, we retained the trunk and added coronet cuts to the main stems to create valuable habitat for insects and wildlife.

It’s always nice when necessary tree work can be turned into something positive for nature 🌿

Now we wait and see if we get some new residents moving in…👀

🌟 Meet Joe! 🌟

Joe has recently joined the Godwins Gardens team as our Arb Team Leader, bringing a wealth of experience and skill with him 🌲 An accomplished climber, Joe has previously worked as a leader undertaking contract tree work across London, so he’s no stranger to large-scale, high-standard jobs.

Trained at Plumpton College (keeping it in the family!), Joe holds an impressive range of qualifications including chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting, felling small trees, tree climbing and aerial rescue, and using a chainsaw from rope and harness, as well as MEWP and wood chipper certification and emergency first aid training.

As George’s cousin, Joe is a natural fit for the team - combining experience, leadership and a real passion for arboriculture. Safe to say, your trees are in very capable hands 🌿✨

A little throwback to this 2023 transformation 🌿

Standard closeboard fencing, finished with a capping rail and double concrete gravel boards - simple, clean, and built to last.

If your garden sits on a slope, this is one of those understated upgrades that makes a big difference. Using concrete gravel boards (especially doubled up) helps retain the ground properly, avoids rot, and saves you going down the much more expensive route of building a wall.
