🔶 Specialist Coatings 🔶
🌡️ Temperature Resistance🌡️

🔸The equipment pictured are steam silencers, used in industrial settings. Their functionality requires them to be exposed to harsh environments, and deal with high working temperatures for long periods of time.
🔹Most commonly used paints/coatings would deteriorate quickly under these working conditions.
🔸Therefore we need use specially developed products. The first is an ‘inorganic zinc silicate primer’ followed by an Aluminium Silicone topcoat.
🔹Both of these products provide a range of excellent protective and durability benefits to steelwork in harsh industrial environments.
🔸In this case, it is the silicone which adds the high temperature resistance and flexibility to the paints qualities, required for this equipment.
🔹Preparation of the substrate to a SA 2.5 sandblasted surface, (image 2) to remove any contaminants from the surface, and to provide optimum surface for coatings
🔸2 coats of inorganic zinc silicate primer applied by spray (image 3)
🔹Silicone aluminium topcoat to provide further protection & reinforce the heat resistant coating (images 1&4)

Some recent radiator restoration work done by Chiltern Blast Cleaning…

With most radiators, we would opt to powdercoat in standardised RAL colours, but as these radiators were required to be a specific match, they were blast cleaned, before being wet spray painted with a high quality build primer, followed by 2pack PU topcoat for a flawless finish 👌

All finished in various colours from the Farrow & Ball range -
Hague Blue No.30
Skimming Stone No.241
Wevet No.273
Wimbourne White No.239

🔶 Specialist & Protective coatings 🔶

I’ve never been quite sure about posting this side of our work, so this is a bit of a step out of the comfort zone. Mainly because it’s not the pretty pictures you ‘need’ for socials, but as a major element of our business, I want to try give a bit of insight into something we specialise and have over 30 years of experience in - it’s not all garden furniture and bodyshells!

There are many different specialist coating systems we use on a range of work, and methods we’ve developed for specific customer needs, so there will be more detailed posts to come on the processes and products we use on some of these and why…
