The main UK heat pump grant is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), providing £7,500 off the cost and installation of air source and ground source heat pumps in England and Wales.
Running until 2028, it applies to homeowners replacing fossil fuel systems, with installers applying on your behalf.

It's a pleasure to help young Tobias have a more comfortable recovery. ❤️❤️

THANK YOU ❤️ | A Bartestree family has spoken of its gratitude after a local air conditioning company donated a complete installation to help their five-year-old son cope with cancer treatment during the recent spell of hot weather.

Phil Lewis, from Bartestree, shared the story to publicly thank the company for its unexpected act of kindness.

Many local residents may know the Lewis family through the collection box at Bartestree Stores, the village school, or by seeing their children playing outside their home.

Before Christmas, Phil's son, Tobias, was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumour. Since then, the five-year-old has undergone major brain surgery and radiotherapy and is now midway through chemotherapy.

As temperatures climbed during the May heatwave, Tobias found the heat increasingly difficult to cope with. Hoping to make him more comfortable during treatment, Phil contacted a local air conditioning supplier.

He was put in touch with RSSAC, whose Managing Director, John, visited the family's home the following business day to provide a quotation.

However, what happened next came as a complete surprise.

After hearing Tobias' story, John decided not only to prioritise the installation so it could be completed within 10 days, but also arranged for the entire project to be donated. Working with the equipment manufacturer and an electrician, the full installation was provided free of charge.

Phil said the generosity of everyone involved made a significant difference during the recent hot weather.

"The last week would have been absolutely miserable without the kindness and generosity of John and his company," he said.

He also praised the quality of the installation, describing the work as "quick, clean and beautifully finished", adding that the finished system has been "fantastic".

Perhaps most touching, Phil said the company never asked for any publicity or recognition in return for its donation.

"They asked for absolutely nothing from us, no social media promoting their donation and kindness – they just did it," he wrote. "This post is my way of saying thank you."

The family's story has been warmly received by members of the local community, highlighting the impact that acts of generosity from local businesses can have on families facing incredibly difficult circumstances.
