Another Consumer Unit Change ⚡️

We swapped out this old Wylex rewirable fuseboard for a brand-new unit with:

🔌 Full RCBO protection
⚡️ Surge protection
💡 Fire-rated downlights

This upgrade came after an EICR revealed:

❌ Exposed connections
❌ Non fire-rated fittings
❌ No cable ID
❌ Circuits without continuous earthing
❌ Zero RCD protection

Now all major safety risks have been eliminated ✅
This system is safer, compliant & reliable for future tenants 🔒

🎥Upgraded this home with a hardwired Ring Doorbell and a high-level Spotlight Camera Plus.

🏠Both inside and outside had been recently renovated, so attention to detail was key.

🔔For the doorbell, we ran conduit behind the gutter pipe to conceal it as much as possible and angle drilled to get the cable to the doorbell perfectly hidden. The feed came off the garage light & was powered via a transformer.

🚨The high-level camera was straightforward thanks to loft access and fusing off a local lighting circuit.

Another EICR wrapped up! ⚡️

This one had a fair few hidden nasties lurking behind the scenes 😳🔍

Here’s what we found:

🚫 Excessively high r1+r2 & Zs readings
⚡️Undersized cable
⚠️ Exposed single insulation
💥 Damaged switchgear & accessories
⏰ Out-of-date smoke/heat alarms
🧩 Conductors not correctly identified
🛠️ No mechanical protection where cables enter metal enclosures

This is why regular maintenance on your home electrics is essential.

💡 Non-fire rated downlights replaced ✅

Swapped out these potential 🔥 hazards for the JCC X50 range. Our go-to downlight for a reason. Reliable, quick to install, adjustable colour temps, and a clean range of bezel options 🎯

To keep things looking sharp, we went with brushed brass 🟡 and polished chrome ⚪️ bezels to match the original fittings.

Removing the old units wasn’t the easiest job (painted in and tight 🎨✂️), but with a bit of careful cutting and clean-up, we got it done right and left the property safer 🏡🔐

3 Bed EICR Complete ✅

A nice small inspection & test this one.

However, we did identify some codes. Here are some C1 & C2 codes rectified on-site:

🔧 Undersized 2.5mm² cable spurred off a 32A cooker circuit
⚠️ Exposed live connections not contained within a junction box

As always, if I can feasibly rectify codes on-site and deliver a Satisfactory report, I get it done 💪

A few C3s were also noted and recommended to the client to further improve the safety of their system.

First time installing an external DB and it held up solid. Even through the recent heavy rain 🌧

Customer had a new canopy built and needed some power✅
