Last week saw us in Bury at a local school where FT Surfacing Ltd was tasked too plain out circa 900m2 , prepare and cut joints and supply and install AC10 HST Wearing Course to a road and play area.

The work was turned round in 2 days and handed back over to our valued client.

All correct falls was put it in place and machine laid with proper compaction to achieve a sleek durable finish.

Our team undertaken works at a property in Alkrington what was in urgent need for a turning point entrance which was originally just an old private lane , the customer had a new driveway installed and needed a smooth durable entrance pad to avoid bringing a mess onto the driveway.

Another quality surfacing scheme delivered by FT Surfacing Ltd. 👷‍♂️🛣️

Our team completed the works from binder course through to the finished SMA surface, followed by the reinstatement of the double yellow lines and associated road markings.

A challenging junction with multiple tie-ins, ironwork and existing levels to work with — finished cleanly with a consistent surface and sharp lining throughout.

PLATT LANE SPORTS COMPLEX | COMPLETE ✅

Another major surfacing scheme successfully delivered by FT Surfacing Ltd.

Following completion of the preparation and resurfacing works, the Platt Lane Sports Complex car park is now complete, with over 4,250m² finished in:

▪️ SMA 10 PSV 60 PMB Wearing Course
▪️ Machine laid to provide a durable, high-quality finish
▪️ Full white lining reinstated throughout the car park
▪️ Works carefully phased to minimise disruption and maintain access where possible

🏗️ Another new-build development brought through to completion in Burnley.

FT Surfacing Ltd were appointed on behalf of our valued client to undertake site remediation works followed by the final surfacing course across this impressive residential development.

The works incorporated several specifications across the scheme:

🔸 SMA6 to footways – installed to Lancashire County Council specification
🔸 AC10 to shared drive areas
🔸 AC6 Dense to private driveways
🔸 Site remediation and preparation works prior to surfacing
🔸 Detailed finishing around drainage channels, ironwork, edgings and landscaped areas

With the development already well progressed, careful planning and workmanship were essential to protect completed properties and surrounding infrastructure while delivering a quality finish throughout.

The final surfacing has really brought the development together and we're proud of the standard achieved by the team.

🚧 Platt Lane Sports Complex – Project Update 🚧

Another major milestone reached at our Platt Lane redevelopment project.

Over the past couple of week , our team has been working through the full reconstruction process, transforming the existing worn-out surfacing into a new, durable pavement ready for years of service.

Works completed and currently underway include:

✅ Full breakout and removal of the existing asphalt construction.
✅ Excavation and disposal of unsuitable material. ✅ Installation of new ACO linear drainage systems and replacement gully infrastructure to significantly improve surface water management. ✅ Preparation, grading and compaction of the new Type 1 sub-base using twin drum rollers to achieve the required levels and density.
✅ Adjustment and reinstatement of drainage ironwork to final construction levels.
✅ Commencement of asphalt reinstatement, with the first binder course now being machine laid and compacted.

The photographs show the project progressing from demolition, drainage installation and groundwork preparation, through to the first areas of fresh asphalt being installed.

Projects like this rely on careful sequencing and teamwork. Every stage—from drainage and sub-base preparation to compaction and paving—plays a vital role in delivering a high-quality finished product.

A huge well done to everyone involved for maintaining excellent productivity, quality and safety standards throughout the programme.

Delivering Quality Highway Infrastructure

At FT Surfacing Ltd, we take pride in delivering surfacing schemes that combine technical compliance, durability and a high standard of workmanship.

This project involved the successful completion of a Section 58 highway maintenance scheme, where our experienced team carried out the planning off of the existing carriageway before machine laying a new HRA 35/14 WT2 surface course. The works were completed in accordance with the project specification, ensuring the finished surface provides excellent durability and long-term performance on a heavily trafficked section of highway.

Following surfacing, our operatives completed the reinstatement of all thermoplastic white lining and carriageway markings, returning the road to full operational use with clear, compliant road markings for motorists.

Our scope of works included:

✔️ Section 58 carriageway planning works
✔️ Mechanical application of bond coat
✔️ Machine laying HRA 35/14 WT2 surface course
✔️ Reinstatement of thermoplastic white lining and road markings
✔️ Traffic management coordination and safe delivery throughout the programme
