I am a retired engineer who has also played guitar in a variety of bands over the years and understand the needs of players based on my own experience. 'Heywood Guitar Doctor' is my retirement project and as such is not a shop front type business, I work from a home based workshop so flexible with respect to drop-offs and collections, which operates by appointment only.

Derek's USA Jackson on the bench for a setup. Firngerboard edges rolled and fret ends smoothed, sharp corners on nut rounded, genereal checkover, EMG trem stop fitted, restrung and Floyd Rose balanced for 10's in E standard tuning. Stunning!

Eugene's lovely old Samick Strat on the bench for a service and setup. Fingerboard edges have been rounded and fret ends smoothed and polished, frets dressed and levelled, scratchy pots and switch contacts squirted, tremolo hardtailed and set for down movement only, nut shimmed and reprofiled to reduce an overly high action at the 1st fret, restrung with 10's and final setup for E standard tuning. Clean and polish. These old Samicks are superb.

An Alvarez MD60 EBG all solid wood electro-acoustic dreadnought on the bench. Fingerboard edges rolled and frets dressed, action lowered, figerboard waxed, clean and polish, restrung with 11's and setup for E standard tuning. Superb!

John's Rossi inspired Fender Tele on the bench. Stripped down and rebuilt to improve sound, setup and playability. Weak bidge pickup replaced, neck and middle pickups wires extended and rewired, new 5 way switch installed, all electrics rewired, bridge remounted, frets dressed, fingerboard rolled and back of neck deglossed, tuning machines tightened, restrung with 10's and setup for E standard tuning. Bridge pickup replaced with a stacked humbucker, jack socket replaced, switch and pots rewired, mini toggle switch installed to enable coil tap, frets dressed and polished, neck realigned, restrund with 10's and setup for E standard tuning.

Another Dean on the table for Derek Baker. Full setup with fingerboard and fretwork, tremolo system rebalanced and Engl trem stop fitted to allow downward motion only and improve tuning stability, and problematic toggle switch resolved. Gotoh locking tuners installed, restrung and set up for E standard tuning.
