Dye testing is one of the most reliable ways to trace where water is actually going, and it's a lot simpler than it sounds.
We introduce a small amount of harmless, brightly coloured dye into a drain, toilet, or water fitting, then watch where it appears. If that dye shows up somewhere it shouldn't, seeping through a wall, surfacing in a neighbouring drain, or appearing outside the property boundary, we've found a connection that shouldn't exist, or a leak that's been hiding behind plasterwork for months.
It's particularly useful when a customer knows they've got a problem but can't pinpoint the source. A slow-rising damp patch on a ground floor wall, for example, could come from half a dozen different places. Dye testing lets us rule things out quickly and confidently, without opening up floors or cutting into walls unnecessarily.
The dye itself is completely safe and won't stain fixtures permanently.
