"People of the Year awards" 1999.
Hello, my name is Andy and i am the handsome one second in from the right. This was a charity project that i was involved in

This came about after a friend had visited Kenya on holiday and saw that the local school kids did not have a proper classroom to study in. The villagers had saved enough money to buy some of the materials, but could not afford to have someone build it. Together with a few friends in the trade we went over there to build it for them. We found sponsors to help pay for the flights, and Monarch Airlines gave us unlimited baggage space to allow us to fly almost half a ton of tools to the village of Dabaso in Kenya.

We spent 2 weeks there working 12 hours a day, often in 120 F heat. The village had no electricity or running water, so we really had to be inventive with the build.

It was amazing once word had gotten out that 5 white builders were sweating whilst building a classroom for them, we soon had up to 2000 people come to see the spectacle. They all helped where they could.

This project had us nominated for The "People of the Year awards" 1999.

It was a fantastic experience and one in which we had the best reward of all.

For the first time in known History we were made "African Tribal Elders" . This took the leaders of 5 local tribes to all agree to this, and is the first time ever that 5 white men were made African Tribal Elders. It also brought together the 5 tribes who had grown apart.

This was and still is a fantastic honour.

We were even given traditional Swahili names, mine was "KADENGE" which translated is "The Quick One"

This was probably one of my most satisfying builds.

Having recently moved into a property which was in need of modernisation. We decided on building work consisting of an extension, driveway, rear patio and fencing. We engaged the services of A.P.Difford Building for the project.
Andy liased well with the council and was very professional in all aspects. The site was always left tidy at the end of each day. We left the keys to the house with them several times to manage whilst i was at work. When unforseen issues occured Andy was able to call upon additional tradesmen to resolve the problems without delay. The project took 6 weeks to complete, was on schedule and within budget and Andy was onsite overseeing the work throughout.
My wife and i were extremely pleased with the end result and would be happy to use them again. An excellent job at a fair price. I would Highly recommend Andy and his team.
