Delighted to share that our new 70-home development in Chippenham, delivered on behalf of Backhouse Housing Limited, is now well underway.

A fantastic start from the team on site, with excellent progress already being made on the roads, sewers, and plot works.

Looking forward to seeing this project continue to take shape and sharing further updates as work progresses.

International Women’s Day. 👷🏼‍♀️

In every walk of life, women usually have many main roles. Many titles, many plates spinning and do it all without a second thought.

We are mothers, wives, keep a home, organise the family schedule’s and most of the time whilst having a career along the way.

Yes, many don’t do this alone, and we have a supportive partner but also many do, do it alone.

Either way. We get the job done.

This international women’s day, I’m going to blow my own trumpet along with all other women in construction. No matter your role.

We work in a mostly male dominated industry.
To get to the position not only our ‘title’ states it is, but to be respected by your peers takes time and actions drastically different to a male who holds the same role.

We have to been seen as not to submissive, not to assertive. Reasonable but not a push over. Competent but never to confident.

We are questioned more on our input than many men would be.

We have likely worked our ‘way up’ rather than falling into the role for qualifications or personality fit.

All whilst, likely juggling outside life along side our careers. The school runs, the after school clubs etc etc.

Personally for me- all of the above, although at times it feels a struggle- it makes it all the sweeter.

To have built a company along side my husband knowing what I bring to the table, knowing that neither of us could of done it without each other is all I need to feel.

Having a work force who respect me as much as they do him is proof to what we have tried to achieve and will keep striving to achieve- a sense of respect and appreciation for each and everyone of us who works within our company.

I am proud of what I am achieving as a women in construction, as a mother and as a wife.

I am also proud of seeing so many more women reaching the heights they are within this industry and finally re-writing the history of where a woman belongs….. Which is, where ever she chooses to be.

Ending 2025 on a positive- a year of progression, consistency and a high standard of work throughout all of our sites supplied by each of our teams.

Our Highworth site, on behalf of Backhouse Housing Limited, is looking fantastic in the sunshine today.

We’re extremely proud of the progress being made and the quality of work across the project. A big thank you to Dwaine Bickham, our site ganger, and his team for their consistent high standards and dedication.

We’ve been a little quiet on LinkedIn & Facebook recently, with our focus firmly on meeting deadlines, maintaining exceptional workmanship, supporting a positive workforce, and getting the job done.
