It’s quite rare for my business to get a mention, even though im only at the top of Castle Street. Unfortunately, despite paying the BID levy like many other businesses, I’ve always felt that businesses on the edge of the town centre don’t receive the same level of support or exposure. Hinckley BID does a lot of good work for the town, but it can sometimes feel very focused on the central area rather than being inclusive of all local businesses. In the nine years I’ve been here, I can probably count on one hand the number of times we’ve been featured, and most of those were after I’d asked.

I really believe businesses like mine bring something valuable to Hinckley. Ive welcomed customers from as far away as Leeds and Bury St Edmunds and all areas of Leicestershire , and after visiting my showroom they often stay to have lunch, grab a coffee, or do some shopping in the town. That benefits everyone.

People often complain that there are too many cafés or hairdressers, but the reality is they’re a huge part of what keeps our high streets alive. They’re the reason many people still come into town, and every person walking through gives all of us as local businesses a better chance of being noticed.

Supporting every local business, wherever it’s located, can only make Hinckley stronger.
