These Black Galaxy Granite kitchen worktops and island had gradually lost some of their clarity and shine over the years, along with developing several minor chips and defects after more than 20 years of use.
The restoration process began with a thorough deep clean to remove surface contamination, grease and residues that can interfere with polishing. Minor defects were then repaired using a colour-matched resin repair system, allowing the repairs to fully cure before being refined and blended into the surrounding stone.
Once the repairs were complete, the granite was polished using the Faber Star Shine Easy system. This process enhanced the surface clarity and reflectivity while bringing out the depth of colour and characteristic metallic flecks that make Black Galaxy Granite such a distinctive material.
To complete the restoration, a stone sealer was applied to help reduce staining potential and support ongoing maintenance.
The reel shows the worktops before restoration, the repair process, and the finished results. The final images highlight the improved clarity and reflectivity of the polished granite, with the window reflection demonstrating the quality of the finish achieved.
