If you are being bothered by wasps then it is possible that you have a nest in your property. It’s worth looking up at the walls and roofs to see if there is a location where wasps are entering and leaving.
Wasps nests will be active until the colder months of late October, November, December.

Tim’s first time flying free ( without a line known as a creance ) .
This is after 4 weeks of training .
We still have to face the challenges of flying free in busy urban environments so a lot more confidence building needed yet .
Beautiful day for it ! 😊

Introducing the new member of the team, tiny Tim . A male Harris hawk hatched in August 2021.

He is going through the process of manning and training . Here he is yesterday during a break from flying Nancy at a landfill site to deter gulls . Gradually he is being introduced to situations he is likely to encounter during his working life such as the noisy heavy plant machinery, menacing gulls and Red kites .

TWO GOOD REASONS NOT TO LEAVE A WASP NEST TO

‘DIE OFF ON ITS OWN ‘

ONE , Although most wasps die when the weather gets cold there will be fertilised queens which live on and hibernate until the spring when they will build a nest and lay her eggs and that nest then grows . This could be in your property again .

TWO , When the weather gets cold in your loft or wall cavity the wasps will fly or crawl into the house where it is warmer in order to live longer . This means d***y wasps all over the house , harder to see which means someone is more likely to be stung . And because they are all over the house it means treatment is more complicated and therefore more expensive.

Don’t get caught out .

Doing our little bit to make a school safe for when pupils return tomorrow.

Whilst carrying out rabbit management to prevent damage to the sports fields we found 3 wasp nests which were quickly treated . So, it’s been good work towards keeping children safe from sprained ankles and wasp stings .
