Following a full rewire, today was all about installing and testing the new consumer unit.

It’s not always about replacing a fuseboard.

We also carry out alterations and repairs to existing consumer units where appropriate.

On this job, the main RCD failed its test, leaving the socket circuits without RCD protection. We also found that recent bathroom refurbishment work had left the bathroom lighting circuit without the required RCD protection. 😱

To rectify the issues, we replaced the failed RCD and installed a pair of RCBOs to provide individual protection for the affected circuits, restoring the installation to a safe and compliant standard.

Sometimes a full consumer unit replacement isn’t necessary—an honest assessment and the right solution can save you money while keeping your installation safe.
