We're delighted to announce that Lister Horsfall's Halifax showroom was recently named as the Best Refurbished Store by a Retailer at the 2025 WatchPro Awards.

Working closely with London-based Innovare Design, we helped bring to life their stunning vision for the multi-million pound refurbishment of this independent jewellery store, dating back to 1902.

We created the timber wall panelling, along with bespoke display cabinets and library-style shelving in light oak and brass, with integral lighting to showcase the exquisite collections on offer to customers.

All of the joinery and floor display furniture was produced at our joinery and metalwork facilities in Hoddesdon. Our technical setting out team produced all detailed working drawings for sign off by Innovare, co-ordinating the meticulous detailing of our bespoke joinery work with other trades to achieve a store of exceptional design and quality.

In March 2025 we were appointed to completely refurbish six stores for Beaverbrooks, including one at Stockport, which we recently completed.

Working closely with Beaverbrooks’ in-house design team, we agreed the scope of works, which included decorating throughout, laying new flooring, including carpets, porcelain tiles and Karndean.

We also laid new carpets and Karndean flooring for the new Tag Heuer concession, working with their nominated contractor, and Beaverbrooks’ dedicated diamond area.

At each store we removed the existing counters and refurbished them at our manufacturing facility, where they were resprayed, before being sent back to site and re-installed.

The lighting was relocated to complement the new store layouts,
including new feature lighting soffits, LED downlights and intricate glass chandeliers; we also installed new glazed partitions, wired in the new lights boxes and supplied new joinery frames.

We were delighted to have worked with Innovare Design to create the new store for independent British jewellers, Lister Horsfall, who recently unveiled their breath-taking multi-million-pound showroom development in Halifax.

Located in the heart of the historic town centre, this remarkable space marks a new chapter for one of Yorkshire’s most iconic family jewellers.

The remodelled showroom is a development of the historic site where Lister Horsfall began its journey as ‘The Little Diamond Shop’ in 1902. Now occupying the entire corner site, this major store now comprises over 600sq m, set over two meticulously designed floors.

Both Innovare and the client were impressed, so much so that we have been awarded a further project providing shopfitting and joinery to refurbish Lister Horsfall’s store in Ilkley, Yorkshire.

Having delivered a number of flagship, boutique and outlet stores over the last five years for Clogau, the family-owned Welsh gold retailer, we were tasked with delivering their first out-of town store in the popular Cyfarthfa Retail Park in Merthyr Tydfil.

The vast open ceiling space had a more industrial feel than a typical boutique store, with exposed services and lighting. A large suspended lighting raft was installed over the central seating area with recessed downlights and hanging feature pendants, with illuminated Clogau signage defining their space clearly from the entrance doors.

The other new feature was a story book plinth (above) as you enter the store, where the curved pages of a large book were formed in our joinery workshop.

Finished with gold-edged pages, it tells the story of Clogau, from the gold mining in Clogau’s own gold mine in Snowdonia, to producing the fine collection of Welsh gold jewellery that is on sale in Clogau’s stores today.

We built all the stand-alone jewellery cases and the merchandising units to showcase their exclusive range.

The new store has performed very well with high footfall, with very positive reactions from the owners of Clogau and their customers.

Baker Brothers, a pillar of Bedford’s luxury jewellery landscape for 185 years, has moved to a brand new boutique store, just along from their original premises, to provide their customers with an enhanced shopping experience.

Baker Brothers new boutique was designed by London design studio Innovare Design to showcase their range of luxury watches, including Rolex, Tudor, Longines, TAG Heuer, Gucci and Tissot, along with their exquisite selection of curated diamond and precious gemstone jewellery. On the first floor the designers created a bespoke bridal jewellery room.

Working closely with Innovare, we provided a range of quality joinery and display units in stained oak, featuring chevron veneers with faux leather, polished brass and bronze metalwork, with feature display lighting.

The new timber shopfront is finished in gloss black with a black granite plinth, brass signage and gold leaf gilding on black glass panels, leading you in to the store with porcelain tiles, decorations and high quality joinery.

To further enrich the customer experience, Innovare has introduced a VIP hospitality service, ensuring every visit is tailored to individual preferences in a friendly, welcoming and luxurious setting.

Commenting on the new high end boutique, David Round, a director at Datum Contracts, said: “We have significant experience delivering luxury retail interiors and this latest project is no exception.

We were appointed to fit-out a hospitality box at Lords and a larger hospitality lounge at The Oval — demanding projects that ran concurrently, where the objective was to create luxury VIP hospitality facilities for cricket fans to enjoy whilst watching international matches.

We very much enjoyed working with interior designers Sella Concept to create these two fantastic projects and were delighted to receive the following comments from them:

“What an incredible space we created!! As ever thank you for your commitment on all of the additional and urgent bits we required your help with. We’re so happy with it. Massive thanks to the whole team at Datum!”

The Oval lounge featured high quality finishes throughout, including veneered wall panelling, stone bar tops and drinks shelves, faux onyx and specialist gloss paint finishes.

The floor was a combination of Blue Spider Granite, Amtico and Westex Ultima Major carpet.

All of the various bespoke joinery fittings used throughout the fit-out were manufactured in our workshop.

This project was completed in seven weeks — in time to host VIPs at two important international fixtures.
