Shelf Lighting Upgrade 💡

A simple way to create a completely different look in a room.

For this installation, we’ve installed LED shelf lighting while making use of the existing wall-light supply, keeping the wiring neat and avoiding unnecessary new circuits.

⚡️ This is exactly why electrical testing matters.

During an inspection, I carried out a continuity test on the CPC (earth) to a cooker outlet.

🔎 Video 1: No continuity from the MET to the final connection point.

📸 The issue: The CPC had been disconnected at the cooker outlet.

🔧 Video 2: After reconnecting the CPC correctly, the continuity test passed.

It’s a simple example of a fault that may not be obvious just by looking at an installation — but testing identified the problem.

This is why regular EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports) are so important.

🏠 Landlords — helping ensure your rental property’s electrical installation is safe and meets your legal responsibilities.

🏢 Businesses — identifying electrical defects before they become a safety issue or disrupt your operation.

🚨 A BIG MILESTONE FOR HUGHES ELECTRICAL SERVICES 🚨

I’m incredibly proud to announce that Hughes Electrical Services is now a NICEIC Approved Contractor. ⚡️

This has been a key part of my business plan and a major goal I set out to achieve as I continue to grow and develop Hughes Electrical Services.

Over recent months, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some fantastic projects, from Plas Penrhyn, to work at the Holyhead Conservative Club, alongside private domestic projects such as a recent kitchen refurbishment.

Every project has helped me build not only the business, but also the reputation and standards that I want Hughes Electrical Services to be known for.

Becoming a NICEIC Approved Contractor isn’t just a certificate on the wall.

For me, it’s recognition of the standards I work to, the quality I strive to deliver and the professionalism I want my clients to experience every time they choose Hughes Electrical Services.

Busy few weeks carrying out various EICRs for business, landlords and home owners across Anglesey.

So what is an EICR??

An EICR stands for Electrical Installation Condition Report. It is a formal inspection and testing report that assesses the safety and condition of the electrical installation in a property, such as a home, office, or commercial building.

During an EICR, we check:

✅ Consumer unit (fuse board)
✅ Wiring and circuits
✅ Sockets and lighting circuits
✅ Earthing and bonding
✅ RCD protection
✅ Signs of damage, wear, or potential electrical hazards

The report helps identify issues that could lead to electric shock, fire, or system failure before they become serious problems.

Whether you’re a homeowner, landlord, or business owner, regular electrical inspections are an important part of keeping people and property safe.
