Job in OSM now starting to take shape. I still find it hard to believe how much spoil was excavated. Just short of 120 ton. To give everyone some idea it costs me £500 plus vat per grab. A grab lorry can take 16 ton. So before I do anything a few thousand is required just in muck-away. It costs less to remove hardcore as this will eventually be reused.
I will be including a lot more information around permeable systems. Permeability only really works on flat surface as water will always work its way to its lowest point. This particular driveway has a 3 cube plastic crate soakaway system. I want to know where the water is going. It is said 1m3 for every 50m2. My specification takes into account the possible flooding from the outside road. There’s no storm to tap into so this is about as good as it’s going to get.
The most difficult thing with permeability and drainage is the weather has changed so much over the last few years. No one has any control over the amount of hot weather to the amount of wet weather. Without question the extremes of weather will cause ground movement.
