⚠️ Power Cut in Howden? Here's what to do before calling an electrician:

1. Check if your neighbours are affected too.

2. Check your fuse board to make sure nothing has tripped.

3. If the whole area is off, report it by calling 105 or via Northern Powergrid's website.

4. Keep fridge and freezer doors closed where possible.

5. Use torches rather than candles for safety.

6. Keep your mobile phone charged and a power bank handy if you have one.

Northern Powergrid will provide updates and estimated restoration times once the fault has been identified.

Stay safe everyone and hopefully power will be restored soon. 💡

Not many people know these exist... 🔥

Every fuse board upgrade we carry out includes a built-in fire extinguishing device as standard.

If a fire starts inside the consumer unit, it automatically activates to help contain it before it spreads.

Most people never ask for one.

Most electricians don't fit one.

We do.

Because we'd rather install it and never need it than need it and not have it.

Whatever happened to handshakes? 🤝
Ever since Covid, I’ve noticed less and less people putting their hand out when meeting someone.
Before, it was just normal. A handshake showed respect, confidence and basic manners.
Now it feels like people awkwardly stand there deciding whether to fist bump, nod or just pretend not to notice 😂
Maybe times have changed… but I still think a proper handshake means something.
What are your thoughts on a handshake? 👇

You’d never know there was a problem until it gets checked properly.

Today was meant to be a straightforward fuse board upgrade… but the house had other ideas.

As part of every fuse board upgrade, we carry out full safety testing before any work starts. Today we found the property had no earthing.

That’s a serious safety issue and not something that can be ignored.

At that point, the job stops and Northern Powergrid has to be contacted so their engineer can attend and rectify the fault before any upgrade can go ahead.

This is exactly why proper testing matters. A fuse board is only as safe as the installation behind it.

If you’ve just got an EV and you’re still charging off a plug… have a watch of this.

It’s not ideal long term. It's slow, not designed for it, and there are definitely better options!

A proper charger at home makes life a lot easier.
