Here at Hilbre. We have even made our own oak k***s for the kitchen.

The outside of the hut has been beautifully finished with oak as well. With the oak corners, and the oak arch cladding above the corrugated sheets.

A big part of this shepherd hut build is the use of oak. From the skirting, architrave, French doors and windows. The kitchen worktop is also no exception. Made from selected light character oak, and with a Tung oil finish

After all the electrics and plumbing has been installed, the insulation can now be fitted. This is sheep’s wool insulation. As well as being eco friendly, it has a very low embodied energy. So also acts as a moisture buffer by absorbing and releasing excess moisture.

The solid oak French Doors now in place. As with most items on this hut build, they are all made in house from the raw materials.
