✨ Recent Installation | Heritage Style Windows and Doors

Another fantastic project completed by Hilbre Windows, featuring Smart’s Alitherm Heritage windows and doors.

For this customer’s refurbishment project, we fitted a full suite of Heritage frames into their beautiful timber-framed extension, along with a matching rear door.

🖤 The sleek black aluminium frames create a striking contrast against the natural timber and exposed brickwork, while the Heritage styling gives the extension a timeless, characterful look. Finished with elegant Antique Bronze Monkey Tail hardware.

The result is a bright, stylish space that blends beautifully with the original property while delivering the benefits of modern aluminium glazing.

✨ Another quality installation completed! ✨

We're delighted to have completed this stunning installation of white Smart Aluminium windows and a beautiful 3-pane Smart Aluminium sliding patio door for our customer's brand-new extension.

The slim aluminium frames maximise natural light while providing a modern, stylish finish that perfectly complements the new living space. The large sliding patio door creates a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors, making the extension feel even more spacious.

Have you ever been in an old pub and spotted those strange circular marks in the glass?

They’re called bullseye glass, and they’re not mistakes. They come from an old glassmaking method called crown glass. Glassmakers would blow molten glass into a globe, attach it to a rod, then spin it out into a wide, flat disc.

The outer parts of the disc came out flatter and clearer, so they were used for the best window panes. The centre, where the rod had been attached, left behind a thick, rippled circle. That’s the bullseye.

Back then, those centre pieces weren’t seen as anything special. They distorted the view, so they were cheaper and often used in pubs, taverns, churches, doors and smaller feature windows. On doors, they were actually pretty handy: they let light in, but made it harder to see straight through. Accidental privacy glass, really.

Today, original bullseye glass is valued for its character, and modern versions are still used to create a traditional look.

It’s a good reminder that heritage design is rarely just decoration. The small details usually have a story behind them, and understanding those details is what keeps traditional buildings feeling authentic.

That same thinking sits behind our approach to sash windows. With Roseview, means respecting the details that made traditional windows beautiful, while using modern materials and engineering to make them work for today’s homes.

One of our amazing customers is undertaking the Prostate Cancer UK “Cycle the Month” challenge, he is now just over two years into remission.

In the two years since his treatment ended

• One in eight men will be diagnosed with Prostate cancer.
• Prostate cancer is now the biggest cause of deaths by cancer in the UK behind lung cancer and bowel cancer. In excess of 12,000 men die every year from this disease.
• Over the last two years, sadly, numerous of his friends/acquaintances have been diagnosed with Prostate cancer.

Also despite campaigning by professionals there is still no national screening programme for early diagnosis of prostate cancer.
