Another recent stunning project we completed for Alex and Daz. Using the seemingly endless supply of stone in the garden, we took down and rebuilt all the walls, in random stone, and added a few more besides, each with a retaining wall behind, as they were previously all single skin.
With lots of careful consideration, we opted to create a return on the upper tier, to create a wider platform, following through, to what alex had in mind, a wall you can sit on for when there aren't enough seats. Daz came up with an interesting idea to utilise what can only be described as a monstrous slab of stone, as a shelf, if left hanging out of the wall somewhat.... it certainly adds interest, and is practical too. We worked around the existing steps that the customer had built previously himself, just facing them, on one side to key into the new walls.
We then paved the 2 levels in kandla grey Indian stone, and finished with basalt titan pro joint, added 2 sleeper planters and a new fence down the left hand side.
They are now on with digging out and levelling the upper tier that backs on to the field themselves, and the top wall will be brought up a little higher to suit the upper tiers level.
Overall, this has created a huge space, for them to utilise, but also created an opportunity for them to transform the garden more themselves.
