Aside from flowers, chocolates and fine wine - it's really the simple things that make us feel loved :)
Roses have a reputation of romance and love, so naturally, it's one of garden designer's favourite plants to introduce in our planting schemes.
If you choose wisely, your roses will fill your garden with beautiful scent and blooms from May-October, making you feel loved ❤️

3x key areas to focus when introducing lighting in your garden:
1 - high traffic areas. This will be your paths to and across the garden. Also don't forget to light up any entry points to your house and any access gates to your front drive.
2 - entertainment/seating areas like dining, cooking, hot-tub etc
3 - feature lighting-to accentuate design features and elements+ add drama ;)

in short - if you lighting does not tick one of these 3x boxes - you don't need it ;)

Think about there 5x things when planning your new garden layout:
1-sun movement through the day.
Make sure you capture some of that soft evening sun with a strategically located comfortable seating area - you can thank me later ;)
2-try keep to the golden ration of 30/30/30 for your hard landscaping, lawn and planting areas.
3-don't be afraid of trees 🌳They are guaranteed to improve any garden, but choose wisely.
4-think about the flow of the garden. Where possible, create a journey through the garden so you can easily access all essential areas without having to step on the grass.
5-crete areas/zones to achieve a sense of cosiness. You can use different materials or planting to achieve this.

Colour, structure and evergreens - yes you can have it all!!
Planting Design plays a major part of your garden renovation process so don't forget to budget for planting as well. We would recommend allocating 3-5k for an average size garden to allow for mature and good quality trees and plants to be introduced as part of your Planting Design.

Every now and then we have an opportunity to work on garden plans for properties that are already full of character and style.
These usually are older properties that have been maintained to preserve their original materials and style. For us designers, it's an absolute pleasure to work on garden plans for these properties as it allows us to walk in the footsteps of our predecessors - designers, architects and builders - to extend the style of the property into the garden.
Ofcourse client's personal style and design brief will need to be considered as well. But if we can extend the style of the property into the garden space - we can create something truly magical. 🧚🏼‍♀️
