Another EV charger installation completed today ⚡🚗

Anyone who’s seen my EV charger posts will know how much I rate the Hypervolt range — and for good reason. But I’ve got to say, the Zappi GLO charge points are seriously impressive too. 👌

They’re incredibly straightforward to install and commission through the MyEnergi app, they look great, and unlike some premium chargers, they come at a much more affordable price point without compromising on quality.

That’s what customers want — a reliable, high-quality EV charger at a sensible price.

I only install products I genuinely trust and believe in, and the Zappi GLO is definitely one of them.

This week I had a young lad join me for his work experience, wanting to learn more about the trade and see what being an electrician is really all about.

Joe has been a great lad from the very start — showed real interest, got stuck in, listened well, and wasn’t afraid to get involved.

It’s been an absolute pleasure having him with me this week, and I’m happy to say that his time with me has helped confirm that he wants to become an electrician when he leaves school.

Good young lads coming into the trade are exactly what we need, and I’ve no doubt Joe will do well in the future 👏⚡

Hypervolt installation this afternoon at a lovely property in Romiley — and what a view! 🌄⚡

While replacing some floorboards, we suddenly heard noises coming from the kitchen…
Just us in the house and the customer was at work. 👀

Naturally, we thought… burglar? 😅

Nope.

Turns out it was a chicken doing its absolute best to break into a bag of mealworms. 🐔😂

Safe to say it’s not every day your work gets inspected by chickens. We eventually had to negotiate with mealworms to continue the install. 🤝

Nice easy job this morning replacing some old downlights 👌

The customer originally wanted two additional spotlights installed in the kitchen area, but due to the existing fittings being non fire-rated — and the fact I couldn’t source matching replacements — the best option was to replace all 8 fittings.

Safe to say it was definitely the right decision… just look at the state of the old ones! 😳

All lights have now been upgraded to modern fire-rated LED downlights, which are fully compliant due to the habitable room above, and they look 10 times better too 🔥💡

From the May 1st 2026, AA Electrical will be VAT a registered conpany and will therefore be required to charge VAT on all my work moving forward.

If you currently have work booked in with me, please note that VAT will be added to the final balance, if this is an issue please do contact me and we can sort something out.

To help keep my pricing as competitive as possible—particularly for larger projects—I will also be slightly reducing my hourly rate.

⚠️ This is exactly why electrical accessories should NEVER be concealed ⚠️

A kitchen fitter had completely boxed in a socket behind a cupboard—no access at all. Unfortunately, this is what can happen when corners are cut.

The customer (who I’ve done work for before) got in touch as her sockets were randomly tripping. Luckily, she knew there was a socket hidden there, so it was just a case of carefully cutting into the cupboard to get to it.

Ideally, it would’ve been disconnected properly, but that wasn’t possible in this situation. It’s now been safely blanked off and, most importantly, left accessible if needed in future 👍

👉 Lesson here: always make sure electrical points are accessible. It’s not just about convenience—it’s about safety.

A few photos from a recent kitchen rewire for a close friend 🔧✨

Swipe to see the before & after once the pelmet lighting was installed—what a difference it makes!

Personally, I would’ve gone with LED strip, but these lights were supplied by the customer’s kitchen fitter. Still, they give a really warm, homely feel and create a lovely ambient glow across the worktops.

I also added some lighting inside the glass cupboards, which really helps bring the whole kitchen to life.

All in all, a great job and a massive transformation from the original kitchen 👌

Back to a repeat customer today to install some shelf lighting 💡

Always great to be asked back — it means a lot when customers trust you with more work 👍

We added some clean, subtle lighting to the shelving, and what a difference it’s made. It’s completely transformed what was once a dark, lifeless corner into a warm, inviting space full of character ✨

Small upgrades like this can really change the feel of a room without needing a full renovation 👌
