Out with the old and in with the new.

A Nest Learning Thermostat installed today for a customer who had been without heating. On a system boiler these control the heating and the stored hot water. It knows where the homeowner is and has the heating nice and toasty for arriving home, all very clever! Can also be fitted to most combi boilers.

The best boiler services are when they are on your own street!
I didn't know whether to walk or drive but with tools and paperwork I chose the latter.

This condensate trap needed a good clean and only a year since I last cleaned it. These, if too full, will stop condensate flowing and back acidic water back into the burner chamber causing lock out. A good clean out and a bit of peace of mind, all part of the service.

A common problem recently is occurring with the aging range of Worcester Greenstar Junior boilers. When the issue arises a leak forms at the right hand side of the boiler, pouring out at the bottom. If the boiler is 7+ years old prevention might be better than cure by having the part replaced. See image number 59 for the culprit.

A noisy/vibrating fan today, turned out it was so bad that it had broken two of the screw heads holding it into place. This wasnt going to last much longer. A new fan installed with new screws and this old trooper has life left in it yet.

A cooker install this morning. Pipework tested first for leaks, then adapted to correct level and bayonet fitting soldered on as there was a hob there before. Cooker chain supplied and fitted to protect the new flexible hose, then commission by checking all safety devices, gas rate the hob rings, top and bottom oven and grill. All in all a nice install and a happy customer who hadn't been able to cook since before Christmas.
