A full day of hedge trimming on a large countryside property this week 🌿

With nesting season underway, every hedge was thoroughly checked for active bird nests before any work began — something we prioritise on every visit this time of year. It’s about doing things properly, not just quickly.

Once confirmed clear, we carried out a careful trim across multiple hedges on site, keeping everything neat, sharp, and in keeping with the property’s surroundings.

Regular, well-timed trimming like this helps maintain structure, encourages healthy growth, and keeps larger properties looking their best year-round.

So Spring has officially started, here’s some advise for your garden this year and a little round up of our first few weeks back! 🚜🌷🌻

We have now done our first cuts on all our customer’s lawns. Also squeezing in some hedge cuts, tree reductions, hedge planting, and one off garden tidy ups.

🏡 Hedge cutting in Spring. Many people are aware of bird nesting season, and falsely believe it is illegal to cut hedges between March and August. This rule only applies to agriculture. You can cut domestic hedge, IF there are no nesting birds. So this is exactly what we do, CHECK before conducting any works.

🌱 Regular grass cutting. We prefer a fortnightly arrangement, which generally runs from mid March until the end of October. 14 to 16 cuts. Some lawns do require less or more, we can advice accordingly. Leaving your grass to grow really long, then cutting it right down is a really bad practice that ensures you’ll always have a terrible looking lawn! We have limited availability for new grass cutting customers!

🪴 General Garden Maintenance: myself (Ciaran) is RHS horticulture trained, and I have a good all round knowledge of plants. We have a few general maintenance customers that we maintain the entire garden for. This includes lawns, hedges/shrubs and borders. And currently have space for 2 more customers of this type. Two bespoke raised beds installed using timber sleepers, finished with plum slate for a clean, structured and low-maintenance finish.

Previously this area was laid to turf, however due to heavy shade it simply wasn’t thriving. Rather than continuing to fight the conditions, we redesigned the space to work with the environment instead of against it.

The raised beds introduce height and structure, improve drainage, and allow for controlled planting in shaded conditions. The plum slate not only complements the timber beautifully, but significantly reduces ongoing maintenance.

A practical solution — delivered with a premium finish.

All built, levelled, installed and left spotless.

What started as a feature shrub had become overwhelming — blocking light and pushing into fencing.

Carefully dismantled, fully removed, and all waste taken away.
