The Ceilidh Place, Ullapool. Glass room renewal, 2019.
We have designed developments at the Ceilidh Place hotel, bar and restaurant over many years. These have included kitchen upgrades, disabled facilities, the bookshop extension and more recently the renewal of the 'glass room' restaurant area. The previous incarnation, famed for its leaks, was replaced with a new roof lit structure which provides more space and leak free dining!

MeyGen PCUB, Ness of Quoys, Caithness 2011

We were appointed in 2011 to work on the Environmental Impact assessment and subsequently to design the Power Conversion Unit Building (PCUB) for tidal energy company Meygen. A world first in generating tidal power and supplying to the national grid, Meygen operate 4 undersea turbines in the Pentland Firth and their power is processed in this building to conform to the requirements of the grid.
As befits its purpose and location the building has a rugged industrial aesthetic modifies by timber cladding to the entrance elevation. this was our first involvement in renewables technologies which has developed since 2011.

Falcon Foundry, Eastgate Inverness, 1998.

An important element of the Eastgate Phase 2 project, this building originally stood on the site of the present Eastgate shopping centre. This listed building was carefully dismantled and reconstructed 200m southwest of its original location and internally remodelled and updated to create two retain units, now the home of Pizza Express and the Highland Hospice shop. it was an early - and perhaps the most complex - example of the careful and detailed conservation work that HRIM has carried out for multiple clients since that date.
