Making Inverness a safer place for walking, cycling and shopping.

Learn more about The Highland Council proposed city centre cycle routes at the public consultation exhibition at Eastgate this Friday (7th October) from 8.30am - 4pm.

Pop along and view the design proposals, and have your say on helping make the city a safer and more pleasant place.

But will anyone listen?? Seem to remember The Highland Council asking for public opinion before and went ahead anyway….

Do you own a short term rental or holiday let property?

The Scottish Government has introduced new legislation which may affect you. All new operators must have a licence before taking any bookings. However, if you were operating before 1st October 2022 you have until 1st of April 2023 to apply for a licence. It will be a criminal offence to operate a short term let without a licence and you could be fined up to £2500.

You now must have a up to date electrical installation condition report (EICR), carry out portable appliance testing (PAT) and have the relevant smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors.

PRJ Electrical Services Ltd can help you with our friendly, highly professional and reliable service that you can count on. Call, email FB message or Whatsapp to receive or further information or a free quote.

Yet again, another example of the importance of regular inspection and testing within homes. This was found when completing an EICR today in a private rental property. This could have led to a very serious outcome.

Mice!! Little furry things can cause havoc with electrics in your house. This is a cable removed from a customers home today. They had been experiencing RCD tripping when turning their boiler heating on. The little rodents left my customer with no heat for days.

Finally, today I am able to shut up shop for what I hope is around 2 weeks. A rest is really required to recharge my batteries. The past year has been incredibly busy. The diary is already full up for the coming months but as always, I'm always happy to squeeze other jobs in as and when they pop up.
January is busy with installing smoke and heat detection in some customers homes. With that in mind, if any customers or friends and colleagues of have a requirement to have alarms installed prior to 1st Feb, I will be happy to help out. My business is NICEIC accredited so I can provide not only professional installation, but also certification that proves the alarms have been correctly installed. Going forward, Insurance companies will no doubt be asking for proof of correct installation.

In the meantime, I wish all my customers a very happy Christmas and New Year. I look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.

I have recently been carrying out a lot of smoke and heat alarm installations. Some of my customers may not be aware that as of February 2022, all properties in Scotland have to have had smoke and heat detection installed. This detection has to be linked either via fixed wire or RF(wireless) methods.

As a company, I am able to carry out all required work for my customers to ensure their properties comply. As part of the process of installation, I will issue full NICEIC Certification documentation, proving that the work has been completed by an accredited contractor. We are also accredited as Aico Expert installers. Aico fire detection is the industry standard and is installed in the majority of new build properties.

Please feel free to get in contact should you wish to have your alarms installed or have your existing installation upgraded to meet the new standards.

Thanks,

Phil
