The new specialist seed storage barn for Kings Seeds in Kelvedon is now complete.
Kings Seeds is a long-established, independent seed company founded in 1888, supplying vegetable, flower, herb, and heritage seed varieties to growers across the UK. Still operating from its historic base in Kelvedon, the business continues to invest in its facilities to support modern agricultural operations.
The building has been designed by Grow as a direct response to the practical requirements of seed storage and handling, with its form, scale, and internal arrangement shaped by the nature of the activities taking place within. At the same time, careful consideration was given to its agricultural setting, with the massing, materials, and detailing developed to sit coherently alongside existing farm buildings and the wider rural context.
Grow provided the full architectural service for the project, including design development, planning submission, and technical delivery for Building Regulations. This ensured that statutory compliance, buildability, and operational performance were resolved alongside the architectural intent.
We regularly work with agricultural and commercial businesses, as well as design-and-build contractors, to deliver robust, well-considered buildings where planning, technical compliance, and construction need to align efficiently. Thanks to the great contractor Ben Keeble.
