Now that the Halloween season is over please make sure that you dispose of your spooky carved pumpkins responsibly. Please do not throw these into forests for woodland animals as these are dangerous to most of our native wildlife including our much declining hedgehogs. There are multiple ways to re-use these and if you are one of the 8 million pumpkin carvers then why not turn them into wild bird feeders, or simply just chop into chunks and throw them in the compost bin.

We saw our resident hedgehog out in the daylight this morning, unfortunately we weren't quick enough to grab him and bring him indoors before he disappeared into neighbouring gardens. Finally saw him back about 7pm tonight and managed to get him to eat and drink, and after a quick phone call to our local rescue centre for advice popped him indoors into a box for the night with food and water. Noted that he has a very swollen rear leg.

We cant believe that we are the only ones who have seen this poor animal in distress through the day and done anything about it. Our hedgehogs and other native wildlife need as much help as we can give them, it doesn't take much to put a saucer of water out in the garden.
