This week, we were delighted to attend the official opening of Leiston’s newly refurbished BMX pump track 🚲, located close to our works on the Sizewell C project.

Led by Jackson Civil Engineering, supply chain partners came together to donate their time, expertise and resources to transform the track ahead of the summer holidays 🤝, ensuring local families can enjoy it for years to come.

Toppesfield provided a new hard-wearing asphalt surface for the track. Our surfacing crews hand laid the binder and surface course to create a safe, smooth riding surface ready for BMX’ers to enjoy.

We are incredibly proud to have contributed to this project, demonstrating how collaboration between Sizewell C and its delivery partners can create lasting benefits for communities across Suffolk 👏.

Project spotlight 📢

Deeside Centre for Innovation is a state-of-the-art off-grid testing facility in North Wales operated by National Grid ⚡, featuring a 400kV modified substation. To support its operations, we were appointed to surface an access road through the site.

With live power lines overhead and all works required to be completed within a one-week programme around the site’s live operations, efficient and safe delivery was non-negotiable.

The project saw over 1,700m2 of pavement construction across base, binder and surface course layers. Through collaboration with the client, our team identified a value engineering solution that utilised CRBM in place of conventional base and binder, delivering cost-savings and sustainability benefits ♻️.

Drawing on our extensive expertise working in high-voltage environments, we assessed the unique risks at the site and adapted our delivery to ensure the project was completed safely, and to the highest standard.

Key achievements:

✅ Safe delivery in a live operational environment
✅ Works completed ahead of programme
✅ Value engineering solution delivered cost and sustainability benefits
✅ Quality of workmanship and attention to detail praised by the client

As a business founded and headquartered in Suffolk, we’re proud to be playing a part in delivering the Sizewell C project and the positive impact it’s creating for communities, businesses and the wider economy 🤝.

Recently, Sizewell C released their Sustainability Report 2025/26 🌱, and we were delighted to feature as a case study, showcasing how the project has helped us create apprenticeship and career development opportunities, support sustainability objectives and deliver tangible social value for the community.
