Well… I can safely say THIS wasn’t on the job sheet today! 😂🌿🔐

Called out to gain entry for a landlord after the tenant had forgotten one fairly important part of renting… actually paying the rent. 🤦‍♂️

Turns out the property had also been sublet.

Got the door open and… SURPRISE! 🎉🌿

We’d only walked straight into a cannabis farm! 😳😂

Definitely one of those moments where you open the door, take one look and think… “Yep, this job’s just got interesting.” 🤣

Anyway… back to what we actually came for!

All locks and handles replaced, plus a repair plate fitted to cover the damage from someone else’s less-than-professional attempt at gaining entry. 🔐🔧

Property secured. ✅
Landlord happy. ✅
Me absolutely STINKING of w**d. ✅🤣

If I get pulled over on the way home, “Honestly officer, I’m a locksmith” is going to take some explaining! 🚔😂

Another busy couple of weeks at Lockfit! 🔐🫶

It’s certainly been a varied one — from boarding up smashed glass and fitting key safes, to replacing numerous door and window mechanisms that have failed, especially with the recent heat and windows not being opened for a while.

We’ve also fitted two-star security handles for a customer in Bingley, tackled plenty of other door and lock issues, and even picked a high-security lock after the keys had been lost. 🔑🚪

No two days are ever the same!

Now, roll on the 4th for a well-earned 10 days away! ☀️🍻

Door mechanism failure in Cottingley this morning caused by a broken internal part.

We fitted a new replacement gearbox to get the door operating smoothly again, then upgraded the cylinder to an APECS 3 Star lock for added security.

Door back in full working order and better protected than before. 🔐🛠️

Last job of the day in BD1 City Centre. Customer needed access to a yard to get a blocked drain sorted, but one pesky padlock had other ideas! 🔐😂

Picked open, access gained and job done. 🔓👌

💒 Day off tomorrow for a wedding, but the phone will still be on to take bookings for Saturday.

With the heatwave on the way, here’s a quick tip for anyone with a composite door.

During hot weather, composite doors can expand or move slightly. When your door is closed, lift the handle to engage the multipoint locking system — this helps keep the door held correctly in the frame and can reduce heat-related movement or bowing.

✅ Close the door properly
✅ Lift the handle and engage the locking points
❌ Never force the handle if it feels stiff
