Installed by RJ Solar at a church in Cumbria, this HANCHU ESS three-phase energy storage system was designed to reduce long-term energy costs while improving resilience for the wider local community.

Built around a HANCHU 36kW three-phase hybrid inverter and 56.4kWh of high-voltage battery storage, the system delivers reliable on-site energy support alongside backup capability during grid outages.

In the event of a power cut, the church can now continue operating as a hub for the local village - helping provide power, support and continuity when it may be needed most.

The system is projected to deliver:

💰 £147,475 projected lifetime savings
⏱️ Estimated payback in 6 years and 10 months
🌍 Around 7 tonnes of CO₂ savings per year

As battery storage becomes an increasingly important part of the UK electrical industry, it’s encouraging to see more engagement from the wider trade.

From storing excess solar generation to charging batteries overnight on cheaper off-peak tariffs, systems like HANCHU ESS are helping homeowners reduce energy costs and make smarter use of electricity.

With hybrid inverters, battery storage, backup capability and intelligent energy management all becoming part of modern installations, the market continues to move towards more connected and electrified homes.

NICEIC has long played an important role in supporting standards and competence across the electrical industry, so it's been great to see HANCHU ESS products showcased within that environment throughout the event.

Battery storage installations are increasingly becoming part of the overall home design conversation - not just the electrical specification.

Installed by Blue Ape Renewables, this HANCHU ESS project in Croydon was designed to deliver powerful residential energy storage while integrating cleanly into a finished garden setting.

To minimise visual impact, the full system was housed within a custom trellis enclosure, helping the installation sit naturally within the surrounding outdoor space while still remaining fully accessible and compliant.

▪️ 6 × HANCHU 5.12kWh High Voltage Batteries

Despite the added challenges of concealed groundwork and limited access routes, the completed installation delivers both strong system performance and a polished final appearance.

Designed from the ground up to replace an underperforming DIY setup, the system now provides a stable, compliant solution tailored to the demands of the site.

▪️ 8 × 450W Solar Panels
