It has been a frantic week of trying to get completions for clients over the line for month end. To that end, visiting solicitors and clients to ensure documents have been delivered and everything is ready for those completions has been high on the agenda this week.

At TRUST Networking this week we heard from special guest, Charlie Hobson Coach who talked us through all things health & nutrition. It was a reminder for some after the huge buffet breakfast that had just been consumed!

At BNI this week, we heard from some of the trades in the group. Callum Ward at EcoSpark showed us the work he does as an electrician and Debra Hawkshaw of Bathe of Wharfedale showed us some recent bathrooms she has designed and installed.

It was great to attend Westwood Capital's first birthday party last night. Steve and Andy and the rest of the guests were treated to a lovely meal at Humber Fish Co which next to the marina in Hull. Great company, great food and a nice birthday cake to round things off.

You did read it right, Steven did leave Sheffield yesterday. He actually ventured to all ridings of Yorkshire yesterday without realising it. No doubt he will question this when he reads this on his tea break.

However the big news this week is that it is a big milestone for Steve tomorrow. As Steve passes half a century we are all looking forward to celebrating his big birthday with him tomorrow!!🥳🥳🥳

This week we’ve swapped more socket faces and light switches than we could count!

Small jobs are always welcome, and often can be quoted for on the phone, and done sometimes on the same day, if not that week.

We hear a lot of customers say that it’s difficult to find someone to come out and do such small jobs but we enjoy them and always aim to provide a quick, easy service, and you’ll always know what you’re paying before we start!

We’ve recently been upgrading the lighting in a very large cellar at a local school!

The majority of the old lights were dim and burnt out, if they worked at all.

Our new fittings are a low energy LED’s all with sensors to come on when someone walks nearby. They also stay on at a low level when nobody is around so that the customer can see ahead for hazards down the long tunnels.

EICR’s are now mandatory for landlords, and are often required for insurance purposes for commercial and industrial locations.

EICR’s are done to identify safety issues and also often make recommendations to improve safety too.

We ensure our reports are thorough and that our customers understand the jargon contained within and are always available to answer any questions and past and future reports!

We recently attended a call-out in a commercial kitchen. A fault would appear the second the gas supply would switch on.

The solenoid coil (the part that controls the gas supply) had filled with water and upon switching on would trip out the circuit.

Luckily, we managed to source the coil despite having no part numbers or references which meant the pipe work didn’t have to be touched and the replacement was fit within half an hour!

Nice, simple and easy.

The customer had run an extension to feed a corner of the room where there were no sockets, which also happened to be where the incoming BT point was for the Wi-Fi router!

We managed to install a socket with next to no damage and shortly after this photo, remove the extension for the customer as it was clipped to the skirting.

We’re recently worked with a local business, to help convert what was an unused storage space, into an office.

The room has very little natural light, so the customer opted for plenty of spot lights, with dimmers and the ability to turn the lower and higher spots on and off separately.

The sockets and data points are installed in dado trunking, so any additional sockets that may be needed in the future can be done easily without any mess. Extra data points and multimedia ports can also be added in the future.

Out with the old….

Customer wanted more power in his garage, and a supply running down to the bottom his garden, ready for his summer house.

So far, we’ve got a new catenary fit, and a fresh cable run on it as the old supply wasn’t big enough to handle his requirements, nor did it comply as the cable wasn’t suitable for external use.

We’ll be back in the next few days to connect up and test!

Upgrade of a consumer unit in a rental property, after an EICR. The consumer unit had no RCD or RCBO protection, and the EICR had also flagged up one of the installed MCB's had thermal damage, which had also damaged the 2 either side of it.

the consumer unit was upgraded to incorporate RCBO's and surge protection, which was especially useful for the tenant as his work required him to use a lot of expensive electronic equipment at home.
