That’s us all wrapped up for the year! ⚒️

I’d like to say a huge thank you to all my customers and those who supported Douglas Masonry during my first year in business. It’s been a great year and I’m very grateful for the trust shown in my work.

Now it’s time for a well earned rest, some family time, and a good few beers!! 🍻

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄🎁

A great wee transformation on this old blacksmiths cottage in Herriot, Scottish Borders 🏠🔨

I recently restored this original stone fireplace, including hand making and fitting a new lintel from reclaimed sandstone to keep it true with the cottage’s character. Always rewarding bringing old features like this back to life!

If you have stonework that needs attention or restoration, just drop us a message! 👌🏼

Saturday shift at the Bridge Inn, Galashiels. Nothing fancy - just some well needed structural repairs.

New lintels and jambs in, window fitted, and a fresh scratch coat ready for the roughcast 🧱👌🏼

The original mullion had split right through and was starting to fail, so I removed the damaged section and installed a new mullion to suit the opening. Clean, solid and back to how it should be.

Nice wee job that makes a big difference to the front of the house.

Noticed cracks or failing stonework around your property? Drop me a message - I’d be happy to take a look and advise further.

📍 Potting Shed Extension – Whinstone Build

Here’s a small potting shed extension that was completed alongside Ron Brown. The client wanted a rustic, traditional look that would blend into the existing setting — nothing too polished, just solid craftsmanship and character.

All the stone was fully reclaimed from the farm and reworked by hand, with a blend of whinstone and sandstone dressings used throughout. The spec was to keep it looking natural and aged, and we made sure every detail stayed true to that brief.

A tidy wee job that we’re proud to put our names to.

🔨 Fully reclaimed stone
🧱 Hand-reworked whinstone & sandstone
📐 Rustic finish as per spec
🌿 Built to blend in, made to last
