Fair play to Ben today

With temperatures hitting record highs, most people were looking for shade, but Ben spent the day on his knees laying reclaimed bricks in the heat

Not every job is glamorous, and days like today really separate the men from the boys

This is a garden wall we repaired in Beausale

The homeowner contacted us after sections of the wall had begun to belly out and fail, with parts of the brickwork becoming unstable and collapsing

After carefully dismantling the damaged upper section, we salvaged as many of the original bricks as possible to help retain the character of the existing wall. The damaged areas were then rebuilt using locally reclaimed bricks, allowing the repair to blend seamlessly with the surrounding brickwork

To complete the project, we installed traditional Staffordshire blue coping stones, providing a durable finish while giving the wall a smart, timeless appearance

Another wall restored, ensuring it remains both safe and attractive for many years to come

Not every job is a beautiful period property with perfect access….

Site manager: "It's only a few little bits to get ready for pre-plaster"

The plot: 🤦‍♂️🤣

We don't spend much time on new build sites, but when we do, they always seem to save us the best ones

Reace drew the short straw on this one….

This is a chimney repair project we're currently undertaking on Castle Road in Kenilworth

The homeowner contacted us after noticing signs of water ingress within the property, with the chimneys identified as the most likely source of the issue

At first glance, much of the pointing appeared to be in reasonable condition. However, no cowls were in place and upon closer inspection, it became clear that the chimney benching had deteriorated and was allowing water to pe*****te the structure

To address the problem, we began by grinding out and removing any weathered or defective mortar joints. We will then remove the existing benching and install new, properly formed benching to both chimney stacks

Once completed and with cowls in place, the chimneys will be solid, weatherproof, and better protected against the elements for years to come

Water ingress is often caused by defects that aren't immediately obvious from ground level, if you have any concerns get in touch to organise a free no obligation quote,

What our Customers Say…

“I cannot recommend Charles and the other hard workers In his team highly enough. Charles has specialist knowledge and a precise eye for detail. I had various repairs to garden walls and my house. This is a property we worked on in Coventry after the homeowner became concerned when the brickwork above a recently installed window began to separate and sag

To investigate the cause, we carefully removed several bricks above the opening. As suspected, we discovered that no lintel had been installed to support the masonry. Instead, the weight of the brickwork was resting on little more than a layer of flexible mastic and expanding foam, materials that are simply not designed to carry structural loads

To make the area safe, we first installed a series of strongboy props to fully support the brickwork above. Once secure, we dismantled the affected section, cleaned and retained the original bricks, and installed a new steel lintel to provide the correct structural support

With the lintel in place, the brickwork was carefully rebuilt using the original bricks before being repointed with a colour-matched mortar, leaving the repair structurally sound and visually seamless

Masonry should always be supported by the correct structural elements. If you've noticed cracking, movement or sagging brickwork around windows or doors, feel free to get in touch for a free, no-obligation quotation

This is a chimney we repaired along Mayfield Drive in Kenilworth

The homeowner contacted us after noticing signs of deterioration and becoming concerned about potential water ingress

We began by carefully grinding out all of the failed mortar joints before repointing the chimney to restore its strength and weather resistance. To provide additional protection against the elements, we applied a specialist water-repellent treatment to the brickwork, helping to reduce future moisture absorption while allowing the masonry to breathe

To complete the works, we re-launched the top of the chimney, ensuring rainwater can drain away effectively and helping to prolong the lifespan of the structure

A big thank you to Jack and Brandon for having us at The Wyandotte Inn today

Reace was there to improve the appearance of this bay window, where years of weathering had left the mortar looking tired and a number of the bricks looking past their best

He carefully ground out the affected mortar joints, replaced several damaged bricks, and carried out some brick tinting to help blend and improve the appearance of the brickwork

It's always a pleasure working on local buildings, and there are certainly worse ways to finish a day's work than enjoying a freshly poured pint at the end of it! 🍻
