We designed this little courtyard garden to provide our client with an outdoor space that she could linger in and enjoy.

Over 6 years later and it's still giving back. From the upper terrace deck to the lower courtyard patio, we designed in so many areas to sit and enjoy the space. We also designed the planting to help the experience feel immersive.

We love that it's still a favourite place to be for our client and her family 🌿

We rather like this little corner at Hidcote.

From the Arts and Crafts pebble margin to the little euonymus hedge, to the pathway that literally takes you to the framed, borrowed view. It's not the most lauded part of Hidcote by far but it is one that we appreciate every time we visit!

Balance in a garden is something we always strive for.

Balance tends to bring with it coherence and harmony, and two key elements we always work hard to balance are planting and open space.

Get this relationship feeling right and more often than not the whole garden feels right 🙂

When we had some trees cut earlier in the year it seemed like a perfect opportunity to make some rustic bee hotels.

Little did we know there would be a leaf-cutter bee stampede to move in, once they were in place!! 😂

Even the roses are doing their bit to make them feel welcome 😉

This photo was taken in a Blue Daisy designed garden. It’s not the usual shot we’d take – the one showing beautiful borders and stunning vistas – but it is one that makes us smile. Can you guess why?

Yep, it’s those joins at the corners of the arches. We’re rather partial to a well-executed halving joint! And the little extra details add to the whole. It’s why we spec them for our gardens.

If you go down to the woods today… you might well be in for a surprise! 🕷️🎨

We certainly were when these colourful creations appeared along the Kenilworth Greenway recently. They’re part of Warwickshire Open Studios, which brings together over 300 artists exhibiting across 100 venues throughout Coventry and Warwickshire.

It’s a great reminder that art doesn’t always hang on a gallery wall - sometimes you stumble across it when you least expect it!

The event runs until 5 July, so there’s still time to explore if you fancy discovering some local creativity.

We’re rather taken with the giant spider… but what’s been your favourite installation or Open Studios discovery this year?

We created David’s front planting scheme years ago, and then designed his mum, Mary’s, back garden and planting a year later.

We were back in David’s garden last week replacing shrubs that had outgrown their space with some beautiful yew balls, and Mary was there too! During the course of our conversation, she said “We’ve had so much pleasure from our gardens over the years – both of us have – we can’t thank you enough.”

Whilst we hope it will be the case, it’s always lovely to hear that our designs continue to bring enjoyment to our clients, years after completion.💚

Thank you, Mary!

Framing views is a simple design technique that can have a big impact on how a garden feels.

Whether created with planting, arches, pergolas or other structures, frames help draw attention to focal points, create curiosity and encourage us to move through a space. They can reveal a destination, offer a glimpse of what lies beyond or simply help us appreciate a garden from a different perspective.

Like many garden design principles, framing isn't just about what we see - it's about how we experience a garden.

It's always a pleasure when a client sends us photos because they're excited about how their garden is developing. 🌿

These images arrived in our inbox recently from one of our consultancy clients, and we can completely understand why she's so delighted.

Over the course of the project we've explored ideas for planting, raised beds, screening, lighting and creating comfortable spaces to sit and enjoy the garden. It's wonderful to see everything beginning to come together.

The Pyracantha is enthusiastically making itself at home, the planting is settling in beautifully, and the globe lights are creating a lovely atmosphere as evening falls.

One of the joys of consultancy projects is seeing gardens evolve over time, with each stage building on the last.

We're looking forward to helping shape the next phase of this garden's journey! 💚

A big shout out to Sue! 🌿

This week marks 10 years since Sue joined the Blue Daisy team.🥳

Gardening isn't always as glamorous as it looks on social media. It takes patience, resilience, knowledge and a willingness to work through every season the British weather can throw at us.

Over the last decade, Sue has helped care for countless gardens and been a valued part of our team every step of the way.

Anyone who can still turn up with a smile after ten years in horticulture deserves celebrating!

Congratulations, Sue, and thank you for everything you do. 💚
