Meeting the electrical engineers of the future ⚡

Today EX2 Group joined the Careers Fair at Cranbrook Education Campus, speaking with students from Years 6 to 11 about careers in electrical engineering and the wider construction industry.

We talked about what it’s like to work on large public sector projects, what a typical day might look like for an apprentice, and the different training routes into the industry through college and apprenticeships.

It was great to see Exeter College Apprenticeships there, helping students connect with practical next steps after GCSEs.

A brilliant opportunity to answer questions, share some real-world experience and inspire a few future engineers along the way.

Proud match sponsors at St James Park ⚽

EX2 Group was delighted to be match sponsor for Exeter City Football Club’s home fixture against Rotherham United on Saturday.

It was a great afternoon for the Grecians, with a second-half goal from new signing Anthony Scully securing a 1-0 victory and three points for City.

EX2 Group is proud to be supporting Torbay’s journey towards Net Zero.

We’re pleased to be working on Torbay Council’s £730,000 energy efficiency programme across council buildings and schools, delivering rooftop solar PV as part of wider measures to reduce energy use and carbon emissions.

As Cllr Chris Lewis said:
“We will be generating our own clean energy, cutting carbon emissions, improving our buildings and saving money all at once.”

The programme is estimated to save more than 7,000 tonnes of carbon over the lifetime of the technology and more than £90,000 a yearin energy costs.

On Friday the EX2 Group team took part in the annual Taylor Lewis games!

With teams from across the south west construction industry we got into fancy dress and headed for Winslade Park for a day of fun and fundraising.

Raising money for Charlie’s Beach School and The Lighthouse Charity - the day was all about having a great time for a great cause.

Brilliantly organised as always and a fantastic day - thank you organisers and teams!

Last week we welcomed Harry, Jassem and Owen to EX2 Group as our newest apprentice electricians.

Following a recruitment process that attracted more than 100 applications, they've joined the business in partnership with Exeter College Apprenticeships, combining hands-on site experience with classroom learning as they work towards their qualifications.

Developing local talent has always been an important part of EX2 Group. Apprenticeships help create opportunities for young people while supporting the future of the electrical and engineering sectors.

We look forward to supporting Harry, Jassem and Owen as they begin their careers with us.

Quayside Leisure Centre goes solar!

We’ve delivered another renewable energy project through our specialist Eco-Tech division, supporting South Hams District Council & West Devon Borough Council’s sustainability ambitions at Quayside Leisure Centre in Kingsbridge.

Cllr Victor Abbott and Cllr Nadine Dommett visited the Centre last week. The installation of 310 solar PV panels are expected to generate approximately 186 MWh of clean electricity each year, supplying around 50% of the centre’s annual electricity demand. The system will also help save an estimated 36.1 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, contributing to a greener future for the local community.

With thanks to South Hams District Council for their collaborative approach throughout the project, and to our Eco-Tech team for delivering the installation with minimal disruption, allowing the leisure centre to remain fully operational throughout the works.

We are really pleased to be on site! Installation of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the Quayside Leisure Centre's main building starts today.

Delivering a practical renewable energy project for South Hams District Council that delivers both environmental and financial benefits, this project is another positive step in a wider programme of carbon reduction and energy efficiency improvements.

☀️ Green Upgrades Coming to Quayside Leisure Centre!

We are excited to announce that major clean-energy works will officially commence on Monday, 13th July!

Working in close partnership with South Hams District Council, the principal contractor EX2 Group will install a state-of-the-art 189.10 kWp pitched-roof solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the main building.

This project is a massive step forward for the Council’s wider decarbonisation strategy, slashing ongoing energy costs to safeguard the centre’s future while drastically reducing carbon emissions. The system also features advanced module-level monitoring and safety technologies (SafeDCT™ and integrated Arc Fault Detection) to ensure maximum safety performance for the premises, staff, and visitors.

⏱️ What You Need to Know:

Timeline: Works start Monday, 13th July, with completion aimed for late August.

Open for Business: Quayside Leisure Centre will remain fully open throughout the duration of the project.

Minimising Disruption: While there will be some scaffolding and a temporary contractor compound in the car park, EX2 Group will be sequencing works to avoid interference with normal leisure operations.

Congratulations to Plymouth City Council on the official opening of the transformed Armada Way and its fantastic new city-centre play area – a brilliant new space for families, residents and visitors to enjoy.

We’re proud that the EX2 Group team played a role in delivering the lighting, solar trees and supporting infrastructure that help bring this vibrant public realm to life. The opening day showcased exactly what these spaces were designed for, with the solar trees providing a focal point around the stage area for live music, community activities and speeches.

A huge well done to everyone involved in delivering this landmark project. It’s great to see the vision become reality and the space already being enjoyed by so many people. 👏
