🏠 Another Firestone RubberCover Flat Roof Completed! 🔨

Another flat roof project completed by the team at Burnside Roofing Ltd, with a focus on quality workmanship, attention to detail and thinking ahead to prevent future problems. 👌

🔨 What’s been done?

✅ Removed the old coping stones and created a fully seamless Firestone EPDM waterproofing detail over the parapet wall, eliminating vulnerable joints and potential water entry points.

✅ Thinking ahead! 💡 Relocated the existing soil pipe away from the parapet wall, allowing for a much cleaner and more reliable waterproofing detail while eliminating a potential weak point.

✅ Upgraded the existing 63mm rainwater outlet to a larger 100mm outlet, improving drainage capacity and rainwater discharge.

✅ Upgraded the roof insulation to improve thermal performance and energy efficiency.

✅ Finished with a smart black metal edge trim, providing a sharp, modern finish alongside long-lasting durability.

💪 It’s the details you don’t always see that make the biggest difference!

Rather than simply replacing what was already there, we’ve taken the opportunity to improve the original design, address potential weak points and deliver a roofing system built for long-term performance.

🏠 Recently Completed Roofing Project

Another roof completed using smooth Marley Mendip tiles, with a lot of attention going into the finishing details.

A standout feature is the cloaked verge system — in our opinion, a real step above the commonly used plastic dry-verge systems.

There are no visible plastic fixtures or fittings on this roof. The cloaked verges, main ridge and mono ridge details are all finished in materials designed to complement the roof covering, meaning everything will weather and age together, maintaining a much more consistent appearance over the years.

🏠 Internal Valley Rebuild

This problematic internal valley was fully stripped back, with the old, poorly fitted lead completely removed.

New structural timbers were installed to create the correct fall for effective water drainage. The area was then reboarded using 18mm boards before a new Firestone rubber roofing system was installed throughout the valley.

The job also incorporated a welded lead detail to the front apron and a particularly tricky soil-pipe, ensuring the entire area was properly sealed and watertight.

🏠 Another Quality Re-Roof Completed!

Another full re-roof carried out and completed to our usual high standard despite some very challenging weather conditions. 🌧️💨

This compact corner property had all the features and detailing you would normally expect to find on a much larger roof.

Proud to be a part of this project…..what a transformation from when I was last there.

🏠 Another one completed! 🔨

This one was a proper little transformation, finished in modern Grey Marley plain tiles, with the leadwork changed over and detailed as required.

A big part of this job was getting the bay window just right. With the small, intricate shape of the bay, the plain tiles had to be carefully set out, cut and fitted to suit the detail. We also installed the baby hips, taking extra care to make everything line up neatly and finish off the bay properly.

It’s those little details that make all the difference 👌 — from the tile cuts and setting out, to the baby hips and leadwork, everything has been finished with plenty of attention to detail.

Really pleased with how this one has turned out! 💪

This project involved stripping the existing roof right back to truss level before carrying out a complete new roof installation using Marley Grey Modern Tiles.

We installed Code 5 leadwork in full accordance with Lead Sheet Association standards, fitted a UV-protected PVC fascia, safely demolished the existing chimney, and installed a twin-wall flue system, with all work completed to current building regulations and industry standards.

Every stage of the project was carried out with precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, ensuring a durable, weatherproof finish that will stand the test of time.

Another stunning roof transformation completed! 🔨✨

We removed the old slates, renewed defective trusses, rebuilt and rendered the chimneys to maintain their traditional appearance, and installed beautiful new Spanish slate for a sleek, modern finish. To enhance the property’s character, we crafted scalloped skews and a scalloped diamond detail, before finishing with traditional lime pointing.

A great blend of modern performance and traditional craftsmanship. 👌
