Car Ports and Canopies.
A carport or canopy offers a great covered space for a lot of uses. Somewhere to work on DIY projects outside under cover, or even let the children out on a rainy day.
Not only does it protect the car from the elements, meaning there'll be no waiting for windscreens to defrost this winter, it also provides a covered area for unloading the car from the car to the door on rainy days.
We call these car ports but we install quite a few that are not used for cars at all.
They are usually used as dry cover areas as in the one pictured. It acts as a porch so that you can change out of muddy boots and wet coats without taking them into the house. You can use it to store outdoor furniture or even put out washing to dry on a clothes horse, on days when it's sunny with intermittent showers.
You can even use it as a permanent awning on the back of the house to sit over the patio. We all spend more time in our gardens now and a protected area can help you to get more use of outside space.
