Something different this week. We were asked to replace locks that had been in use for over 25 years on a door estimated at being up to a hundred years old!

We were able to source a like for like replacement, as well as replace a similar lock on the back door (which was also estimated at about 100 years old!) and both were fitted with brand new Yale cylinders that work from the same key, so less keys to worry about!

Leaving the homeowner with security for the next 25 years!

We were recently contacted by a new homeowner who wanted to upgrade their security for their new forever home.
When they received the keys they had a standard cylinder in the front door and an old 5 lever lock in the back door.
After giving the new homeowner some options we fitted a new a new APECS AP 3* cylinder in the front, these are filled with security features, making them anti pick, anti drill and anti bump, as well as having a lockdown mode should anyone try to snap the lock. These not only come with a 10 year manufacturer warranty, but also a £2500 break in guarantee!
On the rear door we removed the old sash lock which had very little in the way of security features, with a brand new British Standard (BS3621) sash lock, and just to be a bit more secure we fitted a British Standard deadlock which works with the same key, two locks, twice as secure, but just one key!
We cannot recommend enough how important it is that you change any locks to a new home. You can never be certain who the previous occupant gave a key to - family members? (ex)partners? then gardener? a handyman? If you change the locks, you can control who has access to your home, also it is an ideal opportunity to upgrade the security of your family home!

Surprising end to the day. Property management company reported a door that refused to be locked from the inside.

Arrived to find a cylinder that had seen better days and then found out the cause… a mechanism that had seen much better days!

Over time the the mechanism has become that problematic would have soon led to complete failure

New centre case and cylinder was fitted, and a few small adjustments and the door was working like new!

Our first job back, a nice security upgrade from a standard cylinder which provides very little security, to an APECS 1🌟!

A more cost effective little sibling to the APECS AP 3⭐️ that still provides a or enhanced security. With anti pick and anti snap qualities that make it a nightmare for any would be burglar!

That turned out to be a busy few (and wet!) days.

From replacing faulty centre cases and a full mechanism and cylinder to then upgrading and old and failed sash lock to conform to British Standards (honestly, I think it was as old as me!)

Another happy customer on Victoria Dock, a nice shiny new 3🌟APECS AP cylinder, a burglars nightmare!

Not only is this lock anti snap and anti bump it is also anti pick (not that burglars hang around to pick a lock!).

The manufacturer is that confident they offer a ten year warranty and £2500 guarantee against lock snapping, the burglars preferred route of entry.

These can be supplied and fitted in nickel, brass and black, and in both key-key and thumb turn.

We’re back! Firstly with a British Standard sash lock that has failed that many times the homeowner wanted it replaced. Then a mechanism in a uPVC door that had failed, leaving the homeowner having to use their back door days before they called us.

Both were opens and replaced with damage and left working like new!
