Again, aesthetics are the only matter of contention -

This system is more affordable, and it performs better without suffocating the brickwork/masonry substrate... and allowing it to breathe - eliminating any chance of destructively trapping moisture anywhere that it should not be.

Over the years, upon client requests, and against all my better instincts.. I have sampled virtually every surface coating repair compound product on the market.

As a tradesman who's primary material of choice has always been mild steel.. It stands to reason that I instinctively found it difficult to take roof "blagging gunge" seriously, in terms of it being considered as legitimate.

These types of repair methods evoke the same emotions in me as when I've accidently eaten toast that has been prepared with margarine, instead of salted butter - I.e fear, disgust and anxiety.

Anyway

Whether it came in a paint can, bucket, or a cartridge..

Regardless of whether the product presented a bituminous, rubberised, acrylic-based or fibre-reinforced composition...

Irrespective of the relative atmospheric conditions present on the day...

No matter how much filthy, tedious and impractical prep work was undertaken, beforehand...

- Every product performed very consistently , at a very similar level

- Each and every compound produced an almost identical job "quality of outcome"..
. So much so, that only one, brief and bold review was needed to cover the full range of product variations that we tried.

And furthermore, a review so brief, bold and effective, that it constituted just TWO WORDS...........

But in this case - Metaphorically and literally.

Roofs are my preference. I'm not a fan of putting up walls .. but they are equally important, of course.

In the absence of machinery access... How would you fit a seven meter side sheet, oriented two meters off the ground, and with 100mm fibreglass wool attached to its back side?..... (safely)

Well... you can't have everything (sorry, Chris😁)

There are still a couple of things left that the English can be (and are allowed to be ) proud of.

"They" say that necessity is the mother of invention.

England is damp, heavily tidal and densely populated - We need engineering more than most.

To bridge a hostile, muddy Humber- via blood, sweat... and "floating" roads.. is far more close to poetry, than Larkin's forty fibreglass toads.
