Handmade in our Yorkshire based workshop. My Name is Jamie Hoyle, I am a self-taught artisan, designer and maker of custom furniture and lighting. For years I have been interested in how things are made, the materials used and the inception of everyday objects. I have my Father to thank for my curiosity in all things engineering, his wealth of experience has definitely influenced my life and in on
e way or another I have always had my sleeves rolled up. The majority of my working life has been spent driving a desk in various offices around the world but none of these roles really fulfilled my passion to create. For this reason I decided to return to working with my hands. I now own and run a small workshop in the UK, where I continue to investigate and learn methods and techniques for creating and developing unique and individual furniture. For me the process of making something beautiful from raw materials is not all about the finished piece, I take great pleasure in the development of each project. I love having the autonomy to modify the way in which something is created as it can only contribute to the personality of each piece. The furniture I produce is built to be used, loved, and kept for years, with a sturdiness you rarely see in today's market place. Therefore the materials I choose to work with have to be the highest quality and where possible are all sourced locally. I hope my furniture will grow old with the owners, collecting bumps and knocks along the way, all the while continually adding to its character.
