This photo says a lot.

Darran joined Hull Flooring as a teenager on a YTS scheme, and decades later he’s still part of the team. Not because of habit, but because of the people, the graft, and the pride that comes from doing the job properly.

Over the years, Darran has worked across countless projects, passed on his knowledge, and helped shape the standards that define Hull Flooring today. That experience hasn’t stayed with him, it’s been shared, influencing the people around him and the way the work is done.

What we love most is that the story doesn’t stop there. Some of the people Darran worked alongside all those years ago are still part of our world today, just in different roles, continuing to work with us and support the wider industry.

That’s what a good apprenticeship does.
It builds people, skills and relationships that last.

Meet our apprentices

It’s National Apprenticeship Week, and this feels like the right moment to shine a light on the people coming through at Hull Flooring.

This week we welcomed George, our newest apprentice, to the team. He’s straight into live work, learning the ropes on a major leisure project and getting a real feel for what the trade is all about. No nerves, just excitement, curiosity, and a willingness to get stuck in.

At the same time, Will is on the cusp of completing his Level 2 flooring apprenticeship. Watching his confidence grow over the past couple of years has been a real reminder of what happens when people are supported properly and given the time to learn their craft.

Apprenticeships aren’t just about learning a trade.
They’re about building confidence, pride, and a sense of belonging.

We’re proud of every one of them.

A day in the life of the Hull Flooring team.

This is what our weeks really look like. Early mornings, travelling the length of the country, working in all kinds of spaces and getting stuck in as a team.

Recently, the lads have been on site at the Alton Towers Resort on a project we can’t wait to share more about. But whether it’s a high-profile destination or a quieter, everyday building, the approach stays the same.
